Development Campaign Manager
Reports to Director of Annual Giving
Word on Fire Catholic Ministries is a nonprofit global media apostolate that supports the work of Bishop Robert Barron and reaches millions of people to draw them into—or back to—the Catholic faith.
The Development Campaign Manager is responsible for contributing to Word on Fire’s annual giving fundraising efforts, primarily by managing and enhancing the success of the direct mail program. The Development Campaign Manager is responsible for writing compelling solicitation letters and other content that motivates and affirms existing donors and attracts new supporters to our mission. The role requires a deep understanding of data and the voice, values, and messaging of Bishop Robert Barron and Word on Fire. The Development Campaign Manager will coordinate with the Director of Annual Giving and third‑party partners to develop, implement, and track multi‑channel campaigns and grow this vital fundraising initiative.

Responsibilities
Lead Word on Fire’s monthly direct mail campaigns to enhance the program, increase revenue, and ensure an ROI that supports the mission of Word on Fire
Develop direct mail budgets, campaign materials and themes including extensive copywriting of segmented versions of campaign letters, remit forms, acknowledgement letters, email versions of campaigns, website landing page text, and other collateral materials; contribute to non‑direct mail, development marketing copywriting as needed
Work with Engineering and third‑party partners to ensure clean and accurate data imports/exports, manage mailing list segmentation, analyze returns, and prepare recurring reports
Collaborate with Design, Publishing, Distribution, and other departments to acquire necessary campaign collateral on tight deadlines
Create and edit website content for fundraising campaign web pages via WordPress
Build, write, and edit segmented direct mail follow‑up email campaign messages using ActiveCampaign
Work closely with third‑party partners to meet all production and delivery deadlines of direct mail campaigns and processing of direct mail returns
Participate in WOF’s strategic stewardship initiative to personally call donors who meet certain criteria
Field donor and prospective donor questions via email (HelpScout) and phone (RingCentral)
Add and update donation and donor information in CRM on a timely basis
Assist in donor identification, cultivation, solicitation, and management
Assist with other fundraising initiatives as needed, including online campaigns, special events, grant applications, and sponsorships

Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in communications, marketing, journalism, or related field or equivalent experience
5 years experience in marketing, fundraising, or direct mail campaign management
3 years experience writing effective and compelling fundraising solicitation material
Experience with Raiser’s Edge, Salesforce, or other donor database software
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong ability to prepare and analyze large amounts of data via Tableau and Excel
Strong interpersonal skills and willingness to talk on the phone
Strong project management skills and ability to juggle multiple projects and prioritiesAbility to speak with people from a variety of backgrounds and patiently troubleshoot any customer service issues they are facing
Occasional travel may be required
Commitment to the mission of Word on Fire
Familiarity with the work of Bishop Barron and Word on Fire
Preferred Qualifications
5 years experience in marketing, fundraising, or direct mail campaign management
Experience working in non‑profit fundraising
Knowledge of fundraising and direct mail best practices
Experience with WordPress or other online content management system
Experience with Google Drive and Monday.com
Physical Requirements
Must be able to remain in a stationary position (sitting or standing) for 75‑90% of the workday while interacting with customers via phone, email, or chat
Constantly operates a computer and other office equipment which involves frequent repetitive motions of the hands and wrists
Frequently communicates with donors, vendors, colleagues who have inquiries or issues; must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations, requiring clear speech and the ability to hear or understand verbal communication
Must be able to inspect documents, view computer screens for extended periods, and navigate software interfaces to retrieve customer data
Occasionally moves about the office to access file cabinets, office equipment, or attend meetings
Occasionally moves office supplies, files, or equipment weighing up to 20 pounds
Ability to work in an open‑office environment with moderate noise levels (e.g., computers, printers, conversations/calls, and light traffic)
Compensation and Benefits
The estimated base pay range for this position is $75,000 ‑ $100,000 annually. Word on Fire determines individual compensation on several factors, including but not limited to, experience, skills, alignment with the role’s responsibilities, and geographic location. This role may be eligible for annual merit increases based on individual performance.
