Overview Empire Office is currently seeking an Account Manager to join our growing team in NYC. The function of this position is to manage client expectations and provide quality-based products, and knowledge-based solutions. This position will be responsible for increasing market share and profitability by cultivating client trust through daily account oversight.
Responsibilities Update client on new product offerings and market trends
Exercise value engineering when interacting with the client
Work with the Marketing Department to provide updated materials and information to client
Seek out opportunities for ancillary products and additional services to offer up
Respond promptly and courteously to client inquiries, needs, requests, etc.
Be available as needed for client face-to-face meetings, and other necessary communications
Share the Empire story and promote depth and breadth of resources
Promote the unique capabilities, knowledge, and expertise to client
Remain cognizant and prepared for any anticipated client needs
Possess an understanding of the competition for proper product positioning
Negotiate with vendors for additional discounting for increased profitability
Continually practice strategic social relationship-building
Carry out forecasting and strategic account plan
Availability & willingness to take onsite meetings/field measure spaces
Act as the liaison throughout the sales process by facilitating and managing all steps involved
Coordinate necessary actions as they are carried out by the Sales/Account Coordinator or Project Manager
Monitor all reports (waiting, unbilled, or aging)
Mentor Junior Account Manager, if applicable
Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
5+ years in the furniture industry; experience working at a dealership preferred
$75,000 - $90,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications
Capable of reading and understanding blueprints, CAD, or construction drawing
CAD Experience / CET Experience
Knowledge of Steelcase furniture
Microsoft Office knowledge (Outlook/Excel/Word)
Use of Hedberg to generate quotes
Strong communication skills, both written and oral
Well-spoken and able to convey ideas, thoughts, and information effectively
Highly motivated, persistent, and skilled negotiator
Plans and carries our responsibilities with little to no direction
Comfortable working independently
Ability to take on and complete multiple tasks in a timely manner
Handles deadlines and pressure with ease
Works well in a team environment
Ability to motivate others
