Sports Camp Director
Pay Rate: $17.00 - $18.00 per hour Hours: Monday - Friday 8:30am - 3:30pm Job Summary
Under the direct supervision of the Athletics Manager and Athletics Supervisor, the Sports Camp Director is responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing day to day sports activities in addition to supervising staff and overall site operations in the Camp program. Essential Job Functions
Supervise children ranging from ages 6-11 Create weekly lesson plans that include theme days, special crafts, breakfast and snack and daily activities. Maintain a commitment to the development of each child's self-esteem by providing a safe, fun and nurturing environment through age appropriate activities, crafts and games. Document accurate attendance and sign in/outs. Maintain an appropriate staff to child ratio. Collect all required forms prior to child's participation. Utilize and complete all required internal documentation. Supervise daily camp counselor performance and conduct a final performance evaluation for all counselors. Effectively communicate information regarding Camp policies to participants. Delegate responsibilities to other counselors as needed. Keep open communication between staff, children, and parents. Communicate any concerns to the Youth Coordinator regarding staff and/or participants. Stimulate good relationships with other camps to promote a fun team atmosphere. Attend all weekly staff meetings and other required training/events that are scheduled after normal working hours. Establish and lead a separate weekly meeting with camp counselors. Performs the job safely and in compliance with district policies, procedures, work and safety rules. Be familiar with the safe operation of any equipment necessary in accomplishing required tasks. Other Job Functions
Maintain current certifications for CPR/AED/First Aid and 14-passenger vehicle driving. Utilize Park District issued purchasing cards for field trip payments and purchasing weekly supplies while staying within a site specific budget. Monitor camp mailboxes at Pavilion office and check at least once a week for communication, new registrants or flyers. Special Considerations
Subject to both indoor and outdoor environmental conditions. Occasional exposure to natural and potentially extreme weather conditions while working. Physical agility to participate with children and maintain mobility from site to site. Subject to modified/flexible work schedule. Must work closely with co-workers and communicate any special needs or considerations. Able to work under stressful situations when First Aid or CPR is required, including the ability to respond quickly and accurately to any and all emergencies. Ability to lift moderate objects. Minimum Qualifications
At least two years summer camp experience Valid CPR, First Aid, and AED (Pediatric and Adult) Certifications. Ability to swim. Must be able to work the entire duration of the summer. General knowledge of rules and equipment for a variety of sports. Know developmentally appropriate activities for the age of the children Ability to maintain positive and effective working relationships with other employees. Effective leadership skills. Good knowledge of pertinent safety precautions. 18 years of age or older is preferred Education and Experience
High School Diploma or Equivalent Minimum two years' experience working in a childcare setting. Previous athletic participation or athletic coaching a must. Camp is located at the Pavilion Gymnasium 1000 Wellington Ave. Elk Grove Park District is an Equal Opportunity Employer Summary of Benefits
