Women’s & Juniors Sweaters Our client is seeking a detail-oriented, trend-aware Assistant Designer to support the design and development of women’s and juniors sweater collections. This role will work closely with the Senior Designer and broader design, merchandising, and production teams to help bring commercially relevant, brand-right sweater assortments to market each season. Key Responsibilities Support the design process for women’s and juniors sweaters from concept through final sample. Assist in creating seasonal mood boards, color stories, and trend presentations. Develop and update flat sketches, CADs, and technical design pages for internal presentations and production packages. Help prepare tech packs, including specs, stitch details, yarn information, and construction notes. Partner with senior designers to research yarns, stitches, and sweater constructions appropriate for each season and customer. Maintain and organize design files, line sheets, trim libraries, and sample archives for the sweater category. Track sample status and support sample fittings; take notes and update design and spec details as needed. Collaborate with merchandising to ensure styles align with line plans, target costs, and brand positioning. Communicate clearly with cross-functional teams and, when needed, with vendors to resolve design or construction issues. Assist in preparing presentation materials for internal line reviews, sales meetings, and buyer appointments. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design or related field, or equivalent industry experience. 0–2+ years of experience in apparel design; sweater/knitwear experience strongly preferred. Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop; experience with design/CAD systems a plus. Strong understanding of garment construction; familiarity with knitwear terminology, gauges, and stitch techniques is an advantage. Solid sketching skills and an eye for proportion, fit, and detail. Awareness of women's and juniors fashion trends, with the ability to translate trends into commercial product. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail; able to manage multiple styles, seasons, and deadlines.
