Position Overview
The Director of Equipment will oversee all facets of the Equipment divisions and personnel by performing the following duties and will lead by example by demonstrating the core competencies required for the position:

Ensure engagement of equipment team in all safety best practices, ensure compliance with all company policies and safety rules; participate in safety meetings and toolbox talks. Assist with annual training programs. Ensure all maintenance facilities and personal are in compliance with MSHA, OSHA, and DOT regulations at all times. Ensure that all maintenance facilities are neat, clean and in safe condition. Conduct annual evaluations of direct reports timely and accurately and work to develop succession plans for key personnel Oversee and manage all equipment operations within Pike Industries. Create and manage annual budget for Equipment Division (including projected hours of utilization, hourly rates, maintenance budget “parts, labor, fuel, depreciation, etc.”). Maintain cost control for large purchases (repairs, rebuilds, tools, building R&M). Prepare annual rolling stock cap-ex and cost analysis. Manage and monitor equipment utilization and unbilled equipment hours. Dispose of unneeded/underutilized equipment. Oversee and approve all seasonal and long-term rentals/leases. Ensure all shops are in compliance with AMAT shop accounting practices. Maintain strong communication within all divisions of Pike to ensure equipment needs are met. Continually work on five-year cap-ex plans to right size the fleet and reduce cost. Work closely with all equipment manufactures to keep up with new technology. Safety Oversee and participate in safety committee meetings/activities, toolbox talks, risk assessment activities, and other Company policies and key initiatives. Responsible for ensuring employees are engaged in safety and assessing risks Promote a safe work environment and ensure regulatory compliance with OSHA, MUTCD Manual and applicable DOT specifications. Implement and promote the Corporate Safety, Health & Environmental Plan; apply to field operations on various projects. Adhere to any and all state and federal regulations, if applicable, as set forth by the US Department of Transportation (DOT), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA), or any other regulatory agency. Supervisory Responsibilities
· Assist with Interviewing and hiring process as necessary.
· Planning, assigning, and directing work.
· Willingness to develop subordinates’ technical and leadership skills and make recommendations for new job opportunities when appropriate.
· Effective management of employee performance through coaching, feedback (written and verbal), rewards, and discipline when necessary.
· Appraising performance, including annual evaluations and evaluations.
· Addressing complaints and resolving problems in a timely manner.
· Lead by example.
· Ability to get work done through others using effective delegation, scheduling, and time management practices.
Additional Responsibilities
Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the general public at all times. Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required. Must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary. Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Environmental, Health & Safety Manual. Strict adherence to Pike policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Manual. Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required. Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education/Experience Associate’s degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Work Requirements Ability to read and interpret documents such as reports, employee and safety manuals. Ability to rite routine reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from management, staff, customers and the general public. Ability to define problems, collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Knowledge/Skill Requirements Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
