Director of Advanced Practice Providers (NP/PA) – AFC Urgent Care Position Overview We are seeking a results-driven Director of Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) to lead and develop our team of Nurse Practitioners (NPs) and Physician Assistants (PAs) across our AFC Urgent Care centers. This role is designed for a strong clinical leader who thrives in a high-volume, fast-paced urgent care environment and can balance hands‑on patient care with remote leadership and operational oversight.
The Director will play a critical role in standardizing clinical care, improving provider performance, and driving key business and quality metrics, while partnering closely with the Vice President of Operations and Medical Director.
Key Responsibilities Clinical Excellence (In-Clinic)
Provide direct patient care in a high-volume urgent care setting
Maintain productivity expectations of
3–5+ patients per hour
Diagnose and treat a wide range of acute conditions (illness, injury, occupational medicine)
Perform procedures including suturing, splinting, I&D, and basic fracture management
Model efficient patient flow, strong documentation, and excellent bedside manner
APP Leadership & Performance Management
Provide direct clinical oversight for all NPs and PAs across locations
Drive provider performance in key areas:
Patients per hour
Chart completion and accuracy
Patient satisfaction scores
Revenue capture (appropriate coding, ancillary utilization)
Address performance gaps through coaching, accountability plans, and corrective action
Serve as the primary escalation point for clinical concerns
Chart Audits & Quality Control
Conduct routine and targeted chart audits to ensure:
Accurate documentation
Appropriate coding and billing
Adherence to AFC clinical protocols
Track audit trends and report findings to leadership
Provide structured feedback and re‑training as needed
Ensure compliance with state regulations and corporate standards
Scheduling & Staffing Optimization
Oversee APP schedules to ensure optimal coverage across all clinics
Align staffing with patient volume trends and peak hours
Partner with operations to reduce wait times and improve throughput
Support recruiting, hiring, and retention of high-performing providers
Training & Onboarding
Lead onboarding for all new APPs, ensuring consistency in:
Clinical protocols
EMR usage
Patient flow expectations
Develop and implement ongoing training focused on:
Efficiency (throughput, decision‑making)
Clinical consistency
Revenue optimization
Mentor providers to build confidence, speed, and accuracy
Operational & Administrative Leadership (Remote)
Perform administrative responsibilities remotely, including reporting, audits, and meetings
Partner with leadership to drive:
Clinic performance metrics
Standardization across locations
Process improvements
Participate in strategic planning and growth initiatives
Monitor and report KPIs regularly to the VP of Operations and Medical Director
Qualifications
Licensed
Nurse Practitioner (NP)
or
Physician Assistant (PA)
(NC license or ability to obtain)
Minimum
3–5+ years of urgent care, emergency medicine, or high‑volume primary care experience
Proven ability to manage
high patient volumes efficiently
Prior leadership or supervisory experience strongly preferred
Strong understanding of:
EMR systems
Coding and documentation standards
Urgent care workflows and metrics
Ability to lead, coach, and hold providers accountable
Strong organizational, communication, and problem‑solving skills
Work Environment
Hybrid role:
In‑clinic shifts providing patient care
Remote work for leadership, audits, and administrative duties
Travel between clinic locations as needed
