Santa Rosa Golf & Beach Club is seeking an experienced
Golf Course Superintendent
to oversee the maintenance and ongoing development of our 18-hole (+) golf course. This leadership role ensures the highest standards of turf quality, course presentation, and agronomic excellence. Experience in the Florida Panhandle region as a Superintendent is a plus! General Purpose
The Golf Course Superintendent is responsible for all aspects of golf course maintenance and construction, ensuring turf grass conditions meet established standards and elevating the overall course experience. Essential Duties
Assists with developing annual budgets and capital plans. Manages expenses within the department in accordance with the property directive. Maintains ongoing awareness of all agronomic activity on the course and provides constant feedback and direction to key staff members. Maintains clear understanding of and implements all Troon Golf Agronomy standards in addition to ensuring compliance with all local, state and federal regulatory standards/laws. Supports the planning, organizing, and direction of the maintenance and construction. Ensures proper mixing, calibration, and application of all chemical/fertilizers used on the course. Provides timely and accurate reporting of all financial and non-financial information as directed, requested or required by the Director of Agronomy, Troon Golf representatives, the DOG or GM. Implements sound purchasing procedures utilizing preferred vendors, when possible. Ensures that they and all associates obtain proper training and/or licenses needed to perform job tasks safely and within city, state, and federal regulations. Addresses directly all real or perceived environmental concerns. Responsible for interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning, and directing work, evaluating performance, rewarding, and disciplining associates; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Ensures both upward and downward communication within the department and inter-departmentally. Provides leadership and a positive working environment that fosters teamwork, communication, ethical behavior, cleanliness and a “can do” attitude. Directly supervises department members that may include, but is not limited to: Assistant Superintendent, 2nd Assistant Superintendent, Head Mechanic, Environmental Technician, Equipment Operator, Greenskeeper, and Irrigation Technician. Regular and reliable attendance. Incorporates safe work practices in job performance. Education/Experience
Associate’s degree (AA) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or five to eight years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience (Degree preference in agronomy/ horticulture/ plant/soil science). Experience in the Florida Panhandle Region and as a Superintendent (preferred). Physical Demands
Regularly stands, walks and sits. Regularly uses hands, reaches with arms and hands, talks or hears. Occasionally climbs, balances, stoops, kneels, crouches, crawls, tastes or smells. Regularly lifts up to 50 pounds. Occasionally lifts up to 100 pounds. Environment/Noise
Occasionally works near moving mechanical parts, fumes and/or airborne particles. Frequently works in outdoor weather conditions. Noise level is moderate. Certificates/Licenses
Valid Driver’s License. Pesticide Application License. Job Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Preferences
Ability to read and speak English is required in order to perform the duties of the job (e.g. the associates are required to communicate with English speaking customers or co-workers, the manuals for the equipment the associates may use are in English). Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
