Annual Giving Coordinator

to join the Office of Philanthropy and Strategic Partnerships within the Advancement team. In response to evolving current events impacting research and innovation in the United States and around the world, scientists, engineers, and others are increasingly turning towards AAAS for leadership and community. Demand for our input, expertise, and programmatic work has never been greater, and AAAS is working tirelessly to speak up for science. The Annual Giving Coordinator provides a strong foundation for the work of the Office of Philanthropy and Strategic Partnerships by accurately and efficiently processing and acknowledging contributions as they are received and maintaining accurate constituent and financial records within and beyond the Raisers Edge database. In addition, this position will help execute a robust, multi-channel annual giving program to achieve ambitious annual fundraising goals. The Annual Giving Coordinator will serve on the front lines of donor relations as our customer service point person and will assist as needed with administrative support to the Advancement team. Help us ignite the next era of science. What You’ll Do

Input all incoming individual, corporate, and foundation donations into Raiser’s Edge database. Generate acknowledgement templates to accompany each campaign. Prepare and send gift acknowledgment letters and tax receipts daily. Produce monthly revenue and department expense reports. Help execute multichannel annual giving program by helping to pull donor and member lists, draft content, and coordinate with outside agencies to keep program on schedule and ensure final products meet AAAS high standards. Oversee Sustainers program to ensure monthly donations are charged and following up with lapsed donors each month. Schedule meetings, both internal and external, for Advancement team and keep meeting minutes and create agendas as needed. Coordinate travel logistics and reimbursements for Advancement staff and sponsored guests. Provide administrative support to Chief Advancement Officer and other colleagues as requested. Meticulous attention to detail. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Prior work experience in an office setting, preferably in a non-profit organization. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel. Highly organized, with the ability to prioritize, multi-task, set and meet goals and deadlines. Energetic and enthusiastic self-starter. Creativity, curiosity, high energy level, and an enthusiasm for meeting and working with a wide range of individuals. Strong decision-making skills, tactful, good listener, willingness to search out answers, ability to recognize when others need to be involved in activities or decisions. $58,000 – $62,000

per year. AAAS currently provides the following benefits for this position: paid vacation leave, paid sick leave, paid holidays, health insurance, flexible spending account, dental insurance, life insurance, vision insurance, retirement benefits, short- and long-term disability, each subject to the terms of the applicable program. Additional benefits may apply.
