Web UI/UX Engineer

Sesame, San Francisco, CA, United States

About Sesame Sesame believes in a future where computers are lifelike - with the ability to see, hear, and collaborate with us in ways that feel natural and human. With this vision, we're designing a new kind of computer, focused on making voice agents part of our daily lives. Our team brings together founders from Oculus and Ubiquity6, alongside proven leaders from Meta, Google, and Apple, with deep expertise spanning hardware and software. Join us in shaping a future where computers truly come alive.

About the Role We're building a consumer hardware company where the brand is the product as much as the hardware is. Our web presence needs to reflect that: marketing site, product pages, commerce flows, campaign landing pages. The kind of work where the details — the motion, the type, the spacing, the interactions — are the product.

We're looking for a design engineer to own how all of that gets built. You'll work alongside a strong design, product, and marketing team who care deeply about craft.

We hope you'll also bring that same eye to some of our internal R&D products. We're a research-heavy company, and the surfaces our product development team uses every day deserve the same craft as anything public-facing.

Responsibilities:

Build and ship our web presence

Own the online commerce experience end to end, from browsing through checkout

Translate design intent into production code that holds up to the mockup

Build interactions, animations, and UI details that make the experience feel considered and intentional

Work with designers and marketers to bring campaigns to life on the web

Integrate with commerce platforms, CMS tools, and analytics/tracking infrastructure

Infuse our internal R&D product portfolio with design quality, usability, and product thinking

Ship work that's fast, accessible, and works on every screen size

Required Qualifications:

Strong frontend engineering. You write clean, performant code and care about what browsers actually render

Real design sensibility. You can look at a design mockup and know what's off, and you can improve a design in code without being told

Experience with modern frontend frameworks (React, Next.js, or similar)

Headless CMS or headless commerce architectures

A portfolio or body of work that shows range: visual craft, interactivity, technical ambition

You've done this at a high level before, more than once, through the full lifecycle

Preferred Qualifications:

You've brought design craft to every project you touch — external and internal

Motion design or animation skills (CSS, WebGL, GSAP, Framer Motion, whatever your tool is)

Commerce experience: you've built the real thing with carts, checkout, and payment integrations

SEO, page performance optimization, web analytics

Familiarity with marketing workflows: how paid and organic campaigns land on the web, what matters for conversion

You've worked somewhere the website wasn't an afterthought

Experience building and working with APIs

Growth engineering instincts: funnels, attribution, what happens after the click
