Position Summary
Wisconsin State Fair Park (WSFP) is seeking a passionate candidate to serve as the Marketing & Content Coordinator. Under the guidance of the Marketing & Content Manager, this entry‑level position will be responsible for day‑to‑day coordination of email marketing and marketing content efforts on behalf of WSFP brand properties like the Wisconsin State Fair, Milwaukee Mile racing, Harvest Fair and various other events.
The ideal candidate will be an excellent writer with great attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and be able to work on multiple projects efficiently in a fast‑paced, collaborative work environment. Creativity, proactivity, resourcefulness and collaboration are priorities for success in the position.
Employment Type
This position is an unclassified, Dual‑Limited Term Employment (LTE) position within the State of Wisconsin employment system, working an average of 40 hours per week throughout the calendar year. Annual hours worked will not exceed 2,078.
Compensation & Benefits
The starting wage for this role will be $21.00 to $22.00 per hour, based on qualifications. A comprehensive fringe benefits package, including a pension, health and dental insurance, life insurance, and disability insurance is available after a minimum employment period is met. Paid time off for vacation, holidays, etc. is not included as part of the benefits package per State of Wisconsin Legislature, s. 230.26(4), Wis. Stats.

Essential Functions
Email Marketing Execution
Assist in the development of the marketing and communications content calendar for email marketing initiatives complementing social media, digital marketing, and advertising campaigns
Create and manage email templates
Create email graphics in collaboration with Creative Services designs
Develop, write, and edit email copy
Share relevant email campaigns with internal departments providing ample time for feedback and edits
Track analytics like open rates, unsubscribe rates, and engagement with email campaigns
Initiate and create automations in email programs
Collect and analyze data for each email campaign, providing key findings to the team
Create and maintain user guide for email campaigns
Maintain various established brand voices based on origin of content
Create and manage social media and email contesting
Work closely with digital marketing agency of record to ensure best use of tools and gather impactful insights
Partnering with digital marketing agency of record to ensure compliance with regulations regarding email campaigns
Provide detailed email campaign recaps to various departments for use in post‑event presentations
Assist with sponsorship proposal management and ensure fulfilment of contractual obligations relating to email inclusion
Social Media Support
Execute strategic social media campaigns, report success metrics, and track performance
Execute social media campaigns across multiple platforms. This includes, but is not limited to:
Creating engaging copy and posting natively or through a social media management tool
Responding to comments and answering direct messages in a professional and brand appropriate tone
Work with team to create engaging, timely, unique, and brand‑relevant content for all platforms; developing content with photography, videography, graphic creation, etc.
Assist with creation and oversight of social media contests including, but not limited to maintaining contest rules for each promotion, fulfilling ticket orders, and winner communication
Adhere to content calendar for social media channels across Wisconsin State Fair Park brand properties
Coordinate and schedule within content calendars social media efforts with other departments
Ensure fulfilment of sponsorship contractual obligations relating to social media promotions and posts
Coordinate promotions with social media influencers
Promotion Fulfillment
Assist Marketing & Content team with the execution of radio promotions, including ticket orders and supervising on‑site presence
Manage and fulfil ticket orders for concert and general promotions
Content Capture
Contribute to content needed for year‑round Wisconsin State Fair Park marketing efforts including Wisconsin State Fair, Milwaukee Mile, Harvest Fair, etc.; take videos and photos with marketing and advertising needs in mind
Collateral Support
Coordinate with departments to compile information for collateral pieces (Bargain Book, Daily Schedule, maps, year‑round sales collateral, etc.)
General Marketing Coordination
Coordinate the planning and execution of special events during and leading up to Wisconsin State Fair Park events
Assist in proofing printed and digital collateral, signage, email campaigns, social media campaigns, press releases, other marketing materials
Conduct regular website audits of agency websites identifying opportunities for copy, imagery, and content edits
Ensure positive communication within the Marketing Division including accurate note taking and distribution at departmental meetings
Support Marketing Division in creating comprehensive recaps and reports for internal and external stakeholders
Stay well‑versed on ever‑changing marketing trends, especially in the event and tourism industries
Other responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications
1+ year(s) of experience in marketing, communications, or social media
Copywriting and editing skills required, adaptability to the brand voice of Wisconsin State Fair Park's multiple channels with uniquely developed brands
Event planning and execution experience
Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams
Knowledge of email campaign systems, basic photo editing, or similar tools would be beneficial
Organizational social media experience, knowledge of WordPress or other CMS and graphic design program knowledge would be beneficial
Analytical skills with the ability to summarize and effectively communicate results
Special Notes
The candidate must be able to work extended hours, including nights and weekends, at times leading up to and during the Wisconsin State Fair, Milwaukee Mile race, Harvest Fair and other events. Prior to appointment to this position, the candidate will be subject to a comprehensive criminal background check.
Contingent on business needs and the seasonality of WSFP, up to 2 days of remote work per week is available after an initial training period. Remote work will be discussed during the interview stage. High speed internet access is needed to meet the requirements of remote work.
