This is a highly responsible position in the Justice and Public Safety Cabinet. The employee is expected toperform all duties to the best of their ability, act in a responsible manner at all times, demonstrateleadership qualities, and treat all staff, youth, and persons with respect. This is a demanding position thatrequires maturity, reliability, and self-discipline. Career growth and advancement are encouraged throughtraining and mentoring opportunities.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: Provides professional support to the division director of program services and the division director ofplacement services in the review, development, and implementation of Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ)activities. Develops, implements, and maintains various complex projects regarding the activities of two divisions, including the branches contained therein. Interprets and applies rules, regulations, policies, and procedures to research and compile various reports. Prepares monthly and quarterly status reports. Drafts correspondence for review. Responds to inquiries from state agencies, the public, and families of youth. Serves as records custodian for division staff. Prepares personnel actions, provides technical assistance and recommendations, and maintains personnelfiles. Assists in the hiring process, including scheduling applicants for interviews, preparing packets, andmaintaining interview records. Conducts new employee orientation. Assists in evaluation preparation and maintains related files. Maintains time and attendance records on assigned staff, such as reviewing timesheets, entering data, auditing leavemaintenance, maintaining files, and reviewing edits. Updates and maintains manuals, files, databases, and logs as assigned. Arranges DJJ training for staff and maintains training files. Archives division files in accordance with the retention schedule and maintains all related files. Distributes incoming mail. Assists with scheduling appointments and meetings, as well as makes travelarrangements. Attends meetings and trainings as required. Minimum Requirements

EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Three years of professional, administrative, or business experience.

Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Additional education will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Additional administrative, business, research, and/or clerical experience will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Working Conditions

Incumbents working in this job title primarily perform duties in an office setting.

Probationary Period

This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
