Overview
Inova Fair Oaks Hospital is seeking a dynamic Clinical Director to lead and oversee our Emergency Department team.
The Director Emergency Department oversees the department to ensure it is performing effectively, which may include but not limited to, preparing and implementing business strategy to achieve the organization’s goals, ensuring legal compliance, communicating and collaborating with stakeholders, managing employment decisions and contributions of supporting team members, and managing departmental budget and fiscal success. Provides direction and guidance to others regarding practice while serving as a resource and mentor. Serves as leader in decision-making and problem-solving, incorporating data and information to continually improve operations while directing a multi-disciplinary team (i.e. hospital based Emergency Department, Clinical Decision Unit and Critical Care Services). Creates an environment that allows staff to develop professionally.
Job Responsibilities
Ensures patient satisfaction standards are meet in regards to both inpatient and outpatient measures to ensure both quality of care and quality of service. Ensures physician satisfaction with quality of care outcomes and nursing satisfaction.
Supports and assists appropriately in Inova Health System's strategic initiatives (e.g. Inova strategic plan, operating unit strategic plan, service line strategic plan, nursing strategic plan, etc.). Supports and effectively disseminates information about organizational initiatives and team member expectations.
Participates in and supports quality/performance improvement initiatives while demonstrating sound project management skills.
Maintains budgetary standards and appropriate utilization of all resources.
Minimum Requirements
Certification - Basic Life Support, Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support required for Pediatric units
Licensure - Licensed in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Registered Nurse
Experience - 5 years of clinical experience
Education - Bachelors Degree in Nursing
Preferred Requirements
Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience within ED, with progressive leadership responsibility
National certification in nursing leadership or specialty area (e.g., NE-BC, NEA-BC, CEN)
