Job Description
A progressive agricultural operation in New York is seeking a
Field Agronomist
to support crop production across a large-scale row crop and vegetable farm. This is a hands-on, field-based role focused on crop scouting, soil sampling, and monitoring plant health throughout the growing season.
Key Responsibilities: Conduct crop scouting across row crop and vegetable fields Monitor crop development, plant health, and field conditions Identify pests, diseases, weed pressure, and nutrient deficiencies Perform soil sampling and plant tissue sampling for agronomic analysis Prepare and organize samples for submission to agronomy labs Assist with soil test interpretation and fertility planning Maintain accurate scouting reports and field records Communicate field observations and recommendations to farm managers Support agronomy data collection, mapping, and recordkeeping Crop scouting across row crop and vegetable fields
Qualifications: Degree in Agronomy, Crop Science, Plant Science, Agriculture, or related field preferred Experience with crop scouting, soil sampling, agronomy, or farm production strongly preferred Familiarity with soil testing procedures and agronomic lab processes Knowledge of row crops, vegetable crops, plant nutrition, and crop health indicators Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions Strong observation, communication, and recordkeeping skills Ability to work independently in a field-based role
Location:
Must reside in or be willing to relocate to
Western New York
Compensation: $60,000 - $130,000 annual salary (based on experience) Full benefits Relocation assistance available
