Social Media Manager, gt.school (Remote) - $100,000/year USD

Crossover, Chicago, IL, United States

You're not here to "manage social." You're here to build it from the ground up. Most education brands publish safe, forgettable content that blends into the feed. You want to create a presence that makes high-intent parents pause mid-scroll and think, This is worth paying attention to. You prioritize qualified inbound leads, not hollow likes. gt.school is an AI-powered K–8 program designed for gifted and talented students. Learners complete core academics in two hours and spend the remainder of their day on advanced academics and applied skills. The results are measurable. The positioning is distinct. What's missing is a social presence that builds trust at scale and converts credibility into demand. You will control the entire cycle. Identify the narrative. Craft the angle. Build the content. Post. Engage. Refine. There is no established playbook and no inherited channel strategy. You will design the system and set the bar. If you seek ownership, a high creative standard, and direct accountability for qualified parent engagement, this role delivers exactly that. What You Will Be Doing Establishing gt.school's owned social channels from the ground up with a structured publishing rhythm aligned to inbound parent demand Developing social-first storytelling that showcases authentic student outcomes, parent motivations, and founder insights without sounding rehearsed or sales-driven Managing the full execution cycle: concept development, scripting, production, publishing, community engagement, and continuous optimization across key platforms Designing and executing targeted experiments to enhance reach, engagement quality, and conversion signals, using data to inform strategic pivots Interacting directly with audience comments and messages to build trust, demonstrate responsiveness, and cultivate community What You Won’t Be Doing Publishing placeholder content just to maintain a posting schedule or polished brand image Taking over an established channel with existing templates and defined processes Chasing vanity metrics that don't connect to qualified parent interest Running isolated campaigns that lack genuine proof points and cohesive storytelling Social Media Manager Key Responsibilities Establish gt.school's social credibility from zero so that qualified, high-performing parents reliably discover, trust, and engage with the brand. Basic Requirements Built and grown at least one social channel from 0 to 10,000+ followers (or equivalent engagement growth) within 12 months; hands‑on experience with at least two of: TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, X/Twitter. 2+ years owning the full social content lifecycle end-to-end, with 3+ concrete examples of work and results. Experience using performance metrics (views, watch time, CTR, engagement) to drive measurable strategy changes. 1+ year working in a startup, agency, or low‑structure environment where priorities shifted mid-project. Nice-to-have Requirements Track record scaling multiple social channels past initial traction while preserving a consistent, differentiated voice Experience building education‑adjacent or parent-focused brands where credibility and evidence matter more than hype Proven interview or on‑camera direction abilities to draw out compelling narratives from students, parents, and founders About Gt.school GT School is revolutionizing education with AI, expert coaching, and 50+ years of learning science.
