Job Summary:
To ensure that students have a quality educational program in the arts. To provide experiences for students as both participants and appreciation of the arts.
Essential Functions Essential functions, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include, but are not to limited to, the following tasks, duties, knowledge, skills, and other characteristics. This list is ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY and is not a comprehensive listing of all functions and tasks performed by incumbents in this class.
Oversees the Peoria Unified School District #11 Arts Program including curriculum and assessment development, staff development, arts promotions and program evaluation
Acts as liaison between district administration and Arts teachers
Serves as a consultant and advisor regarding arts equipment, supplies and instruction
Serves as a consultant and advisor to Arts teachers regarding scheduling, public relations and special activities
Designs and maintains data collection regarding arts programming and related service
Establishes, defines and implements short and long-term goals for development of arts education programs and services
Plans and delivers in-service workshops and or demonstrations on the teaching of the arts
Establishes and maintains arts partnerships with educational institutions, civic organizations and non-profit organizations
Performs human resource functions such as applicant tracking, screening interviews and recruitment
Maintains necessary records and prepares required reports
Prepares and administers the Arts program budget
Performs other related duties as required
Knowledge and Skills
Knowledge of applicable Federal, state, county, and city statutes, rules, policies, and procedures.
Knowledge of applicable Peoria Unified School District and departmental policies and procedures.
Knowledge of Performing and Visual Arts Curriculum and Instructions
Skill in Technology
Skill in Community Relations and partnerships
Knowledge of arts integration pedagogy.
Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relations with co-workers, vendors, students, parents, the general public and others having business with the school district.
Skill in operating a personal computer utilizing a variety of software applications.
Minimum Qualifications
Master of Education
Certified Arts Educator in the State of Arizona
Experience in teaching in the Arts required
Experience in organizing and leading workshops
Supervisory certificate required
Must possess or obtain an Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
Must be able to pass a background clearance check
Administrative experience preferred
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable
