We’re Especially Interested In Candidates Who Bring

4–6+ years in flexible packaging, label printing, or a related print manufacturing environment

Hands-on experience with estimating, pricing strategy, or technical planning

Knowledge of flexographic and/or offset printing processes

A strong analytical mindset with the ability to translate data into actionable insights

Position Role As the Estimator Planner you will provide senior level technical expertise in confirming the most efficient pricing plan. You will serve as the liaison between sales and production to provide expert level understanding and planning based on the clients’ needs. As the Estimator Planner, you are also responsible for engineering the best market-competitive offer by interpreting the strategic opportunities in partnership with Sales. You will work with other department leaders to develop the most efficient, competitive and profitable solutions for existing and potential clients to secure new or additional business. Additionally, you will contribute to meetings, participate in corporate strategic projects, manage rate card opportunities and assist with onboarding of new employees.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Develop and independently determine strategic pricing based on fit, schedule availability/seasonality, current market conditions, market verticals & capacity considerations.

Develop market competitive estimates to meet Sales and Customer needs while striving to optimize profitability for the organization.

Design price schedules/pricing grids/rate cards in our integrated systems so that pricing information can be leveraged by the sales and billing teams. Update, revise, and clean-up price schedules/pricing grids/rate cards as needed for escalations, materials increases, automated billing issues, etc.

Independently analyze job cost recovery and provide guidance on where & how to be more competitive. This includes analyzing run plans and identifying ways to financially incent more efficient run plans on equipment.

Serve as estimating subject matter expert to Sales & Customers to ensure client satisfaction.

Meet with Leaders/Managers/Directors to discuss strategic direction of pricing & production plans for projects.

Provide insight and expertise to sales and billing teams seeking to understand the pricing offered and how to sell the invoice accordingly.

Drive continuous improvement in sales and estimate success ratios, product profitability and productivity, and overall accuracy and timeliness.

Participate in corporate strategic projects by representing the estimating and planning department and owning specific tasks within the projects.

Secure pricing for services with outsource vendors when required.

Effectively communicate with sales, account managers, job engineers and designers.

Develop the Bill of Materials (inks, coatings, substrates, packaging, etc.). Determine the most cost-effective location for production, the associated equipment routing, tooling cost, labor cost, and any additional charges.

Requirements Education and Experience:

HS (GED) required. Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in business administration, math, or engineering is highly desirable.

4-6 years of experience in the printing or packaging industry, preferably in an estimating or technical role with both flexographic and offset equipment and workflow knowledge.

General understanding of the print process is required.

Experience in a Flexible Packaging or Label Printing manufacturing environment strongly preferred.

Strong knowledge of printing substrates, inks and coatings, and finishing processes a plus.

Previous estimating experience in a print environment a plus.

Experience with manufacturing ERP systems.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Tools (Outlook, Word, Excel) and office equipment.

Must have demonstrated proficiency using a system to estimate jobs / product cost and must have the ability to learn Company software programs.

Willing to attend required training courses or sessions related to the job as assigned.

Physical Demands

Typical office tasks on a regular basis - lifting, sitting, standing, crouching, and other repetitive office tasks

Pass a pre-employment drug test and subject to random drug screening.

Work Environment

Typical office environment with some exposure to dust and noise while in production areas.

Personal Protective Equipment

Safety eyewear is recommended when working within the production area.

Travel Requirements

This position will require negligible travel, up to 10% annually.
