The Mechanical Designer will contribute to the design and development of mechanical systems and components. This role supports automation projects by designing mechanisms, assemblies, and machine structures used in custom capital equipment. They will work closely with engineers to move concepts quickly into detailed designs that can be built and tested. Essential Functions: Design and develop mechanical components and systems using CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD). Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand project requirements and constraints. Create and maintain detailed design documentation, including drawings, specifications, and bills of materials. Conduct analysis and simulations to validate designs and ensure functionality and performance. Participate in team reviews to understand design intent and specifications. Review and modify designs based on feedback and testing results. Assist in troubleshooting and resolving design-related issues during the manufacturing process. Support project management efforts by tracking design progress and meeting deadlines. Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies to enhance design processes. Education and Experience: 5+ years of experience in mechanical design, preferably in a manufacturing environment. Equivalent combination of training and experience. CMD is located in Appleton, WI. Our three facilities operate by secure entry, are well lit, air temperature controlled for comfort, and clean with low noise. Safety is our top priority. Our culture is centered around mutual respect, clarity of communication, and employee wellbeing. Physical Demands: Ability to stand or sit for extended periods while working at a desk or computer. Capacity to use standard office equipment such as computer, telephone, and videoconferencing. Capacity to wear personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, ear protection, and hard hat as needed. Ability to tolerate exposure to moderate levels of noise, vibration, and varying temperatures in a manufacturing environment.
