
Sales Engineer - Remote TN, MS, AL Region

Overview
The Sales Engineer is a field-based position which is responsible for growing their territory across a wide range of OEMs, plastic molders, and plastic extruders.

Responsibilities
Manage and grow accounts within the sales territory. This includes developing account plans for the strategic accounts and products.
Develops a prospecting plan within the territory which focuses on strategic targets and specific markets.
Identify specific OEMs and large Tier 1s in the territory where we can work to get our materials specified.
Consults with existing and potential clients to assess and understand needs.
Perform high level sales activities at a variety of accounts, examples below.
Technical sales presentations to engineers and management
Price and contract negotiations
Creating new sales strategies at targeted accounts
Account management
Communicating customer’s technical requirements internally
Achieve sales goals that align with assigned budgets and growth initiatives of the RTP Company and the Central Region.
Work collaboratively with internal teams to generate estimates and cost proposals for implementation work requests based on client requirements and proposed solutions.
Ensure that customer needs are met, which may include material modifications.
Obtain a deep understanding of the RTP Company product and processes. Proactively stay informed of materials and capabilities.
Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders within each account.
Adapts easily across sales, marketing, operations, and technology in order to be credible and relevant across the customers’ functional areas.
Assists with research and development of new materials.
Other duties/responsibilities as assigned, or apparent.
Requirements Skills and Abilities
Excellent sales and customer service skills with a proven ability to explain technical materials to a non-technical audience.
Self-motivated and driven to succeed.
Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
Have strong negotiation and technical presentation skills.
Able to work independently and within a team environment.
Able to analyze and troubleshoot as problems or changes arise.
Able to utilize and lead internal support as needed.
Able to work with cross functional groups of employees in various departments across RTP Company.
Able to apply engineering, technology, or other related principles to product sales.
Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
Attendance is an essential function of the job.
Education And Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Sales, Marketing, Business, or related field is preferred.
5+ years’ experience in Engineering Plastics Sales required.
Must be entrepreneurial and have a proven track record of sales or application development in a technical field.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and the use of CRM systems.
Physical Requirements And Working Conditions Regularly
Position requires about 75% travel within their given region, must have a valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
Communicates via phone, e-mail, in person.
Required to sit, perform keyboard work and/or travel, for prolonged periods of time.
Operates a computer and other office equipment such as a cell phone.
Frequently
Talk and hear to coordinate day-to-day phone and in person transactions.
Occasionally
Lift and/or move up to 15 lbs.
