About the role Superluminal Medicines, Inc. is seeking a highly organized, detail oriented, and experienced Head of Compound and Data Management to help us build fully integrated, automated, and data-driven compound management and assay biology workflows. This role is essential to ensure that the scientists can focus on the science and trust that every experimental data point that is collected is underpinned by confidence in the compounds being tested. The person that fills this role understands how fundamental and critical compound management is to the experimental data being generated and how important data capture, recording, and communication is to drug discovery. The role will sit at the interface of biology, chemistry, and technology and requires experience in cross-functional collaborations. The ideal candidate is highly motivated, thrives in a startup environment, and brings strong management experience.

Key responsibilities

Key business partner to chemistry, biology, and digital data & technology (DDT) groups

Oversees strategy, roadmaps, and long-term plans of the group

Participate in project team meetings to anticipate and respond to needs and keep the team informed of capabilities and bottlenecks

Manage external CRO relationships and internal compound manager

Lead the build of internal compound management capabilities

Collaborate with biology and DDT to:

establish dashboards, new CDD vault protocols, run-booking systems, data pipelines, etc.

develop harmonized experiment templates, assay workflows, and metadata models to ensure scientific and operational consistency across projects

improve process from plate maps to CDD upload

improve integration across ELN/instruments/CDD

Own the assay tracking Smartsheets across programs

Investigate new automation, LCMS, and other capabilities. Develop a business case as appropriate and lead new capability builds if approved.

Assist leadership with laboratory expansion planning and scaling strategy and ensure efficient execution

Ensure compliance with all laboratory safety requirements including OSHA, biosafety, chemical hygiene and other regulatory standards

Identify inefficiencies in our operational processes and implement solutions to address them

Qualifications & Skills

Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, or closely related field with 10+ years of industry experience or M.S. degree with 7+ years of industry experience

Experience managing direct reports, CROs and key stakeholders

Experience building or overseeing compound management capabilities

Experience with laboratory automation

Experience managing lab buildouts or expansions

Experience with research informatics, data science, or scientific programming is a plus

Experience with compound shipping logistics, particularly with international shipments and customs documents a plus

Highly organized self-starter with a strong ability for problem solving and effective execution

Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively across multiple tasks

Ability to work onsite full-time
