Position Overview As the Used Car Sales Manager, you will be responsible for maintaining a balanced used vehicle inventory and maximising gross profit on each unit sold. You will lead the used vehicle sales team by setting objectives and monitoring performance, while ensuring professional standards and compliance with regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Set monthly and annual sales and profit targets for the used vehicle department.
Plan, organise, and control daily activities and schedules of used vehicle sales staff.
Ensure salespeople are informed about current inventory and market trends.
Oversee vehicle merchandising and lot maintenance to uphold company standards.
Work closely with the New Car Sales Manager and Service Manager to coordinate vehicle trade‑ins and pre‑delivery processes.
Support salespeople in meeting their sales objectives through coaching and training.
Monitor compliance with federal, state, and local regulations relevant to vehicle sales.
Evaluate and approve vehicle appraisals and ensure proper reconditioning within budget.
Conduct daily sales meetings to review results and plan sales strategies.
Manage payroll records and performance reviews for the sales team.
Implement prospecting programs to drive sales growth.
Physical Requirements
Ability to work in outdoor weather conditions frequently.
Occasionally required to perform physical activities such as climbing, stooping, or lifting up to 10 pounds.
Regularly required to stand, walk, talk, and hear.
Exposure to exhaust fumes and airborne particles.
Required vision abilities include close, distance, colour, and peripheral vision.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Minimum three years of automotive sales experience, including used car sales and familiarity with finance and insurance processes.
At least one year of supervisory or management experience preferred.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Proficiency with personal computer applications such as word processing and spreadsheet software.
Valid driver’s licence and state sales licence required.
Comprehensive knowledge of various vehicle types.
