Beauty & Hair Designer- Hybrid
Claire's, Albany, NY, United States
Brief Description
About the Role
We’re building the future of beauty for Gen Alpha — expressive, playful, digital-first, and unapologetically bold. As a Beauty & Hair Designer, you won’t just follow trends — you’ll shape them. This role sits at the intersection of product, culture, and brand storytelling, creating must-have beauty experiences that live both on shelves and across social feeds.
This role requires a strong understanding of the youth beauty market—Gen Alpha and Gen Z trends, social media aesthetics, and product storytelling to design collections that are both inspiring and commercial. Must combine strong graphic and packaging design skills with a sense of play, color, and form to bring each collection to life.
Key Responsibilities Design That Leads Culture
Create trend-forward beauty & hair concepts across cosmetics, accessories, and hybrid categories (think phygital, collectible, experiential).
Translate Gen Alpha behaviours, aesthetics, and platform trends (TikTok, Roblox, etc.) into product design.
Design within branded frameworks — from licensed collaborations to Claire’s proprietary brand worlds.
Collaborate Across CFTs (Cross-Functional Teams)
Partner closely with Merchandising to align on assortment strategy, price architecture, and category opportunities.
Work with Brand & Marketing to ensure product storytelling, campaigns, and visuals are cohesive and scroll-stopping.
Collaborate with Planning to ensure designs meet margin targets, timelines, and volume expectations.
Engage with Production to bring concepts to life — from ideation to shelf.
Drive Innovation
Identify whitespace opportunities in Gen Alpha beauty & hair (play, personalization, sustainability, tech integration).
Push boundaries on packaging, formats, and user experience.
Embed “designed for sharing” moments into every product.
Who You Are
A culturally fluent designer who understands Gen Alpha mindset, not just Gen Z leftovers.
Obsessed with trends but driven to evolve them — not copy/paste.
Strong in beauty, product, and packaging design with a sharp eye for detail and finish.
Comfortable working in a matrixed, cross-functional environment.
Able to move fast, iterate quickly, and stay agile.
Digitally native — you understand how products live beyond physical retail.
Qualifications
3+ years in beauty/product design (retail, DTC, or branded/licensed environments).
A portfolio that shows trend relevance + commercial success.
Experience working with cross-functional teams (Merch, Brand, Planning).
Strong Adobe Creative & AI design suite skills (and ideally 3D/rendering tools).
Understanding of manufacturing processes and materials is a plus.
Why This Role Matters
Gen Alpha isn’t waiting — they’re already shaping culture. This role is about meeting them where they are and building what they didn’t even know they wanted yet. You’ll help redefine what beauty looks like for the next generation — playful, inclusive, expressive, and always evolving.
The Energy
Fast. Creative. Collaborative.
If you’re excited by the idea of designing products that go from concept, shelf, viral, this is your space.
Ready to build what’s next? Let’s go.
