Marketing & Operations Manager
Insight Glass - Windows and Doors Experts in Bay Area, Fremont, CA, United States
THE OPPORTUNITY
Insight Glass is a Bay Area institution — a 37-year-old window and door company serving the greater San Francisco Bay Area — launching a new residential replacement division with a dedicated Fremont showroom.
This is not a support role. You will own both the marketing engine and the operational backbone of a new direct-to-consumer business unit backed by nearly four decades of commercial reputation. You are responsible for generating demand, managing the advertising budget, overseeing sales reps and installers, running the showroom, and ensuring the division hits its growth targets — all while building the systems and processes that allow it to scale.
The CEO drives overall strategy and brand direction . You carry it forward — turning marketing dollars into qualified leads, qualified leads into signed contracts, and signed contracts into completed installations. You’ll manage a team that includes an SEO specialist, an IT/programmer, sales reps, and installation crews. If you are a sharp, growth-minded operator who knows how to build a residential home improvement business from the ground up using data, AI, and relentless execution — this is your seat.
WHAT YOU’LL OWN
Marketing Strategy & Lead Generation
Own the marketing budget across digital and traditional channels — Google Ads, social media, direct mail, local advertising, and lead aggregators. Develop and execute campaigns that drive qualified homeowner leads into the pipeline. Track cost-per-lead, cost-per-acquisition, and marketing ROI by channel. You are accountable for lead volume and lead quality.
SEO & Digital Presence
Directly manage the in-house SEO specialist to drive organic search rankings, local SEO performance, and website content strategy. Oversee website updates, landing pages, review management, and Google Business Profile optimization. Ensure digital presence is consistently generating inbound leads alongside paid channels.
Sales Team Management
Recruit, onboard, and manage sales reps. Distribute leads, monitor pipeline activity, track close rates and average job sizes, and ensure reps are performing in-home consultations that convert. Set sales targets, run performance reviews, and manage rep compensation in compliance with California AB5 requirements.
Installation & Contractor Coordination
Manage installation crews — scheduling jobs, ensuring quality standards, resolving field issues, and tracking job completion timelines. Maintain California AB5 compliance for all contractor engagements. Coordinate with the service team for warranty and repair requests.
Customer Journey & Project Delivery
Oversee the homeowner experience from signed contract through completed installation — scheduling, milestone communication, issue resolution, and post-project follow-up. Ensure every customer interaction reflects the Insight Glass reputation for quality and reliability.
Showroom & Day-to-Day Operations
Run the Fremont showroom — managing CRM pipeline, estimate workflow, installation scheduling, and ensuring the location meets brand and service standards. Coordinate with Benicia headquarters for shared administrative services, accounting, and service technician support via the intercompany agreement.
Systems, IT & Process Management
Directly manage the in-house IT/programmer to build, maintain, and improve the operational toolstack — including CRM configuration, quoting workflows, IES integration, internal automations, and reporting dashboards. Identify opportunities to deploy AI-powered solutions that save the team time and improve accuracy.
Reporting & Performance Tracking
Build and maintain dashboards that track the full funnel — from ad spend to lead volume to close rate to revenue. Report weekly to the CEO on marketing ROI, sales performance, installation throughput, and customer satisfaction. Use data to drive decisions, not gut instinct.
AI FLUENCY — NON-NEGOTIABLE
We run AI-powered workflows across quoting, CRM, reporting, and communications. You don’t need to be a developer — but you need to be genuinely comfortable using tools like ChatGPT, Claude, and emerging AI platforms to automate tasks, draft documents, analyze data, and build internal tools. We expect this role to proactively identify and deploy AI solutions that accelerate marketing performance, streamline operations, and give the team a competitive edge. Candidates who have not adopted AI into their daily work will not be competitive here.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Industry background in home improvement, construction, or building materials. You understand how residential window and door sales and installation businesses work — the sales cycle, the in-home consultation, the installation workflow — or come from a closely adjacent trade.
5 years in a marketing and/or operations leadership role — ideally at a small-to-mid-size home improvement company where you owned lead generation, managed a sales team, and were accountable for revenue growth.
Proven digital marketing experience. You have hands-on experience managing paid advertising budgets (Google Ads, Facebook/Meta, local platforms), tracking attribution and ROI, and optimizing campaigns to hit cost-per-acquisition targets.
Demonstrated AI fluency. You actively use AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, etc.) for real work tasks — drafting, analysis, research, workflow automation — and can speak concretely about how.
Experience managing 1099 contractors — both sales reps and field crews — with working knowledge of California AB5 compliance requirements for independent contractor classification.
CRM and lead management proficiency. Comfortable working in or evaluating platforms such as JobNimbus, Builder Prime, MarketSharp, Intuit Enterprise Suite, or similar home improvement CRMs. You understand pipeline management and can configure workflows.
Data-driven decision maker. You think in terms of cost-per-lead, close rate, average job size, and marketing ROI — not just impressions and clicks. You build dashboards, track KPIs, and use data to allocate budget and prioritize effort.
Strong people management skills. You can recruit, motivate, and hold accountable a team of W2 and 1099 sales reps and installers — maintaining quality standards and consistent performance across independent contractors.
Comfort with a startup-within-an-established-company environment. You’re building something new, but backed by 37 years of reputation and infrastructure. You thrive in ambiguity, move fast, and keep multiple workstreams running in parallel.
BONUS POINTS
Experience with Intuit QuickBooks, QuickBooks Online, or Intuit Enterprise Suite (IES) — particularly multi-entity reporting and accounting coordination
Familiarity with window and door manufacturers and residential replacement sales cycles
CSLB licensing knowledge or experience supporting contractor licensing in California
Knowledge of federal IRA tax credit programs applicable to residential window and door replacement — and how to use them as a selling tool
Prior experience launching or scaling a residential home improvement business or division from early stage
SEO knowledge — content strategy, local SEO, Google Business Profile optimization, review generation
