Job Description The New York Post is seeking a PostScript Editor to oversee editing of the Sunday opinion and ideas section and be at the forefront of shaping books‑related content for both the New York Post and California Post. In this role, it is essential that you are familiar with the point‑of‑view, philosophy and principles for which The New York Post’s editorial pages stand. This is not a traditional editorial‑page job, nor is it strictly focused on politics and policy. Ideally, you are a news omnivore who follows global affairs, science and tech news, national and local politics, societal trends and pop culture — and have writer contacts that reflect that. You also love books, have experience covering them, and understand the broad needs of the newsroom. This role requires a self‑motivator with high‑level organizational skills and a strict dedication to deadlines. You must be able to plan in advance — but also pivot and produce quickly as news happens. Responsibilities Assume editorial responsibility for the Sunday opinion and ideas section, ensuring that all content is well‑crafted and aligned with the publication’s editorial standards Collaborate with writers, columnists and contributors to refine and enhance their pieces, providing editorial guidance and feedback Identify the big stories of the week and come up with creative “zags” that react to the news cycle Evaluate column submissions and keep up with replies Bring in a broad network of freelance writers, including opinion columnists and high‑level features writers, to find the right writer for any topic Stay abreast of developments and schedules in the publishing industry, identifying noteworthy releases across genres Cultivate relationships with book publishers and literary agents to secure advance copies of important releases Work closely with the photo and design teams to conceptualize engaging print layouts and digital graphics, including maps and other charts Coordinate the seamless web posting of columns and articles Write sharp, SEO‑friendly headlines and story leads Requirements 7+ years of experience editing opinion pieces, columns, and long‑form content within a newsroom environment Bachelor’s degree in journalism, English, or a related field preferred Proven experience in editorial roles, particularly editing both columnists and long‑form, multi‑source features Exceptional writing, editing and communication skills Strong organizational abilities and the capacity to manage multiple projects with varying deadlines An ardent passion for books and a keen understanding of the publishing landscape A sharp eye for narrative, logic, and tone — especially attuned to the Post’s unique voice Ability to work independently while thriving in a collaborative, high‑paced newsroom environment WordPress experience is a plus The New York Post adheres to an on‑site work model. This role will be expected to report into the office 5 days per week. The shift schedule for this position is Monday‑Friday, 9:30 am to 5:30 pm or 10 am‑6 pm EST. Base Pay Range: 125,000 - 140,000 We’re committed to offering competitive and flexible compensation to attract top talent. This pay range reflects our good faith estimate for the role and may vary based on a candidate’s experience, skills, location, and other relevant factors. For bonus‑eligible roles, targets are determined based on multiple considerations, including market benchmarks and individual contributions.
