Income Tax Manager
The Income Tax Manager's focus will be in the area of federal and state income tax including the reporting requirements for a U.S. based multi-national. This role emphasizes state-level compliance, and audit management, requiring deep knowledge of multi-state tax regulations. The position supervises experienced staff members and plays a key role in process improvement and compliance efficiency. Primary Responsibilities: U.S. Tax Compliance Manage and oversee preparation and review of federal consolidated and state corporate income tax returns. Review federal pro forma filings. Manage key state tax computations, including allocation and apportionment analyses. Oversee preparation of quarterly federal and state estimated tax payments and extensions. Ensure technical accuracy across all domestic tax filings and supporting documentation. Identify and lead state tax planning opportunities and process improvements. Manage state income tax audits, coordinate responses, and resolve audit issues. Oversee the management of state tax credit initiatives and related computations. Develop, maintain, and optimize standard tax reporting packages. Monitor federal and state tax law changes; evaluate and communicate their impact on the organization. Tax Provision Assist in preparing quarterly and annual income tax provisions under IFRS. Oversee state tax provision calculations, including effective tax rate analysis and reconciliations. Special Projects Conduct tax research across income, sales, and other relevant tax areas; prepare technical memos and documentation. Lead or participate in various tax-related projects to streamline processes and drive automation within compliance and reporting functions. Leadership & Development Supervise and mentor staff accountants, reviewing work and providing feedback for professional growth. Train team members on tax compliance procedures, software tools, and documentation standards. Partner with external tax advisors for federal and state return reviews; manage resolution of review points and correspondence with auditors or tax authorities. Develop performance goals for self and team, ensuring alignment with department strategy and priorities. Skills and Abilities Strong knowledge of U.S. federal and multi-state income tax laws and regulations. Proven leadership and team development capabilities. Demonstrated business acumen, with the ability to assess and improve tax processes. Excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills. Skilled in presenting findings, recommendations, and strategies to leadership and cross-functional teams. Preferred Technical Skills Tax software: CorpTax and OneSource Tax Provision (or similar). Other tools: Microsoft Office Suite, SAP, Adobe, Hyperion. Education and Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA strongly preferred. Minimum of 7 years of relevant tax experience in public accounting or corporate tax. Experience with multi-state corporate tax compliance and provision. Exceptional research and writing abilities. Strong interpersonal skills to build lasting relationships internally and with taxing authorities. Pay Range: 127,426.00 - 181,219.20 This posting is for an existing vacancy within our business.
