Position Overview The Director of Procurement will lead VTC’s global procurement supporting all plants and business units in North America. This leader will ensure reliable, cost-effective sourcing of raw materials, electrical components, and services critical to transformer manufacturing. This role requires strong Supply Chain Operations leadership in a multi-plant environment with a global supply base, and will partner closely with Engineering, Operations, Finance, and Senior Leadership to drive performance, cost optimization, and scalability.
Key Responsibilities Procurement Strategy & Leadership Develop and execute procurement strategies to ensure continuity of supply for copper, steel, electrical components, and other critical materials. Provide leadership across Supply Chain Operations in a multi-plant, global environment. Standardize procurement policies, processes, and best practices across all manufacturing locations. Partner with the VP of Supply Chain to drive cost savings, improve supplier quality, and mitigate risk.
Supplier & Contract Management Build and manage strategic supplier relationships, including executive-level engagement with key global partners. Implement supplier performance scorecards and continuous improvement initiatives. Manage suppliers capacity to diversify risk and strengthen supply continuity.
Operational Execution Oversee procurement operations supporting all North America facilities. Ensure timely material availability to support production schedules and minimize downtime. Collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Operations, and Finance to drive alignment and process improvements. Leverage ERP systems and analytics for forecasting, spend analysis, and performance tracking.
Team Leadership & Development Lead and develop a large, globally distributed procurement organization. Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and strong problem-solving capabilities. Build bench strength and develop future leaders within the procurement function.
Compliance & Risk Management Ensure compliance with corporate policies, ethical sourcing standards, and global trade regulations.
Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred). 12+ years of progressive procurement/supply chain experience, with 5+ years in a leadership role. Proven leadership in Supply Chain Operations within a multi-plant, global manufacturing environment. Strong supplier management capability with executive-level relationship building experience. Demonstrated ability to drive cross-functional alignment across Supply Chain, Operations, and Engineering. Experience managing large, globally distributed teams. Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities. Deep knowledge of raw material markets (copper, steel, oil-based components). Expertise in global sourcing, contract negotiation, and supplier performance management. ERP experience required, with strong preference for Oracle.
