Sheet Metal Model Maker Direct Hire Macomb County, MI Basic Function To fabricate and machine specialized tooling and components within an automotive prototype stamping environment. Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities Tooling & Processing: Responsible for operating and processing tooling and parts according to customer requirements and technical specifications. Quality Control: Qualify detail stampings to check fixtures and ensure dimensional accuracy. Metal Forming: Demonstrate a solid understanding of various metal forming processes and techniques. Machine Setup: Perform various types of industrial machine setups independently. Material Literacy: Read material technical data tags to accurately determine material types, grades, and gauges. Inspection: Understand check concepts and inspect finished parts according to customer specs and tolerances. Production Tracking: Accurately count and record daily production activity and material usage. Precision Measurement: Utilize calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and tape measures to perform accurate measurements per specific print and drawing tolerances. Communication: Identify and communicate machine maintenance or quality issues to management as they arise. Workflow Management: Interpret and follow supervisor reports, prioritizing tasks based on established start dates and project urgency. Professional Standards: Demonstrate core behavioral expectations including being communicative, motivated, responsible, dependable, and inquisitive. Skills & Qualifications Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of metal fabrication concepts, workflows, and industrial processes. Detail Oriented: Keen sense of attention to detail and high stress tolerance in a fast-paced environment. Equipment Operation: Ability to safely operate overhead cranes, torches, hand tools, and precision measurement instruments. Print Reading: Must be able to interpret complex industrial blueprints and technical drawings. Soft Skills: Must be honest, respectful, and possess effective written and verbal communication skills. Education & Training Education: High School Diploma or equivalent. Training: Completion of Vocational Training in Machining or Metal Fabrication preferred. Experience: Prior experience in industrial fabrication and machining, specifically within a prototype or tool & die setting.
