Corrugated Structural Designer

The Corrugated Structural Designer’s role is to develop corrugated packaging solutions that meet the customer’s specifications while controlling costs, ensuring manufacturability, and optimizing product protection. Knowledge of the corrugated fiberboard substrate, as well as a technical knowledge of common converting equipment, is key. This is a cross-functional role that supports the internal production team, estimating team, as well as the external sales force by generating technical specifications, production layouts, and samples.

Core Responsibilities Design & Prototyping: Develops structural dielines (Slotted Cartons, Die Cuts) using specialized CAD software Optimize Material Usage: Chooses appropriate paper grades (flute type, linerboard weight) when designing Collaboration: Works with sales, customer service, and production to meet project goals Structural Integrity: Ensures designed packages meet demands of the supply chain Cost-Focused: Optimizes designs for efficient production and material usage Support production press side during production operations. Tooling: Maintains relationships with die and plate manufacturers and facilitates tooling orders

Required Skills & Qualifications High School Diploma/GED/associate’s degree 3-5 years’ experience with structural design in a corrugated converting environment Familiarity with common corrugated board grades and FEFCO styles Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., Artios CAD, Adobe Illustrator) Understanding of converting processes and common converting machinery Proficiency in the following computer software: Windows, Excel, Outlook, Adobe Exceptional communication skills Basic math skills Problem-solving and analytical skills Ability to work within a cross-functional team and manage projects in a fast-paced environment

Machines/Tools/Equipment: Windows based computer system, copy/fax, CAD program, CAD Table, various testing equipment, basic hand tools including dead blow hammer, knives, tape guns and hot glue guns
