
SBA / Conventional Underwriter

Conventional / SBA Underwriter - Role can be based in either Dunwoody or Duluth
Job Responsibilities
Underwrite and evaluate commercial and SBA lending opportunities in accordance with the Bank’s credit policies, underwriting standards, and regulatory guidelines.
Conduct financial analysis including cash flow, collateral evaluation, industry trends, and global debt capacity to assess borrower risk and repayment ability.
Prepare detailed credit memoranda and present financing recommendations to senior credit management or credit committee.
Structure loan transactions and negotiate terms and conditions within assigned lending authority or recommend approval to the Chief Credit Officer.
Coordinate with loan operations, closing staff, and legal counsel to ensure approved loans are properly documented and closed in compliance with Bank policies and regulatory requirements.
Review and process renewals, extensions, and modifications of existing credit facilities while monitoring borrower performance and covenant compliance.
Perform credit investigations including credit bureau inquiries, lien searches, and UCC filings to confirm creditworthiness and collateral position.
Monitor loan portfolio performance and identify emerging credit risks, recommending appropriate risk mitigation strategies when necessary.
Collaborate with legal counsel and special assets teams on problem loans, restructurings, bankruptcies, and charge-offs.
Support business development efforts by identifying opportunities to cross-sell deposit and treasury management products and services.
Provide guidance and mentorship to junior credit analysts and underwriting staff.

Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting
5 years of financial services experience preferred
