Position Summary The College of Engineering (COE) at Oregon State University (OSU) seeks a creative and enthusiastic student-employee to join our team as a Student Photographer. The COE Marketing and Communications team produces a variety of content to enhance the college’s image, reputation, and recruitment efforts including magazines, promotional materials, and social media content. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in capturing images and video that tell the story of COE and support the college’s priorities and goals. This recruitment will be used to fill a part-time (a maximum of 20 hours per week) student photographer position.

Position Duties Assignments can include portrait, event, and lab/classroom photography and video sessions with a DSLR camera and/or smartphone.

Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study

Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment

Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard

High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home‑schooling program

Undergraduate and post‑baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term

Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*

Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term

Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*

*International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered “full‑time” by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.

Additional Required Qualifications

Experience with DSLR cameras.

Ability to work as a team member and effectively interact with co‑workers, using a collaborative work style.

Excellent attention to detail.

Experience creating social media content.

Ability to meet deadlines set by the marketing and communications team.

Comfortable engaging with students, faculty, and staff to capture dynamic energy of campus life and candid moments that highlight the student experience.

Desire to learn new skills.

Preferred (Special) Qualifications

Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, especially Lightroom and Photoshop.

Experience with lighting equipment.

Familiarity with the OSU brand guidelines.

Working Conditions / Work Schedule The hours are flexible to accommodate class schedules, approximately 10 hours/week, max 20 hours/week for full‑time students.
