Resident Life Director

The Resident Director is a live-in position. Bayside College Purpose: Bayside College exists to develop Christ-centered, premier leaders who are set apart to make a Kingdom Impact in ministry and the marketplace. Position Purpose: The Resident Director position exists to provide intentional, Christ-centered living and learning environments that both challenge and support students in achieving academic success and growing in personal maturity and competence. Reports to: Director of Student Development Degree required: Bachelor's Degree Collaborative Relationships: This position will collaborate with the Director of Student Development, Operations Director, and Resident Advisors. Work Schedule: Monday - 9 am - 5 pm Tuesday - 12 pm - 8 pm Wednesday - 12 pm - 8 pm Thursday - 9 am - 5 pm On weekends (Friday - Sunday), hours as needed Primary Responsibilities

RA Discipleship & Supervision: Train, encourage, and disciple a team of 6-8 RAs to educate, serve, and disciple the students in their homes.

Assist with RA recruitment, selection, training, onboarding, and evaluation processes. Conduct weekly staff meetings and hold regular one-on-one meetings with RAs. Coordinate the on-call schedule for the Resident Assistant staff. Emphasize discipleship within each residence home and on the RA team. Create and manage the Res Life calendar and communicate to RAs. Ensure RAs are conducting weekly room inspections.

Community Building: Collaborate with RA’s to develop and implement events and initiatives to foster an uplifting, positive, and inclusive community within the residence life.

Empower students to take ownership of their homes and the Res Life community. Be visible, approachable, and accessible to students. Advise students on academic, personal, and spiritual issues, connecting them with College & Church resources as needed. Mediate roommate conflicts, address student concerns, and support students facing personal challenges. Ensure excellence in Res Life events, at least 1 per quarter.

Policy Enforcement: Enforce college and residence hall policies, including conduct standards and safety regulations, in compliance with the Cleary Act. The RD is the first step and the implementor of the disciplinary process.

Ensure that all Resident Advisors are trained by southeastern university in Cleary Act Compliance. Ensure safety guidelines are established and followed. Ensure regular RA training in reporting and investigations. Meet directly with students for disciplinary action as needed.

Community Operations: Maintain accurate records, manage department budget, conduct monthly room and home inspections, manage building issues, and report incidents.

Oversee Resident housing applications. Work with the Academic Director and Finance Director to expedite student acceptance. Collaborate with the Finance Director to collect and return housing deposits. Assign students to specific homes and communicate with RAs and students. Communicate the move-in details and important dates to RAs and students. Maintain logs of student vehicle registrations and update them each semester. Maintain visitor logs of overnight guests and vehicles. Perform building rounds of residence homes to monitor and address any maintenance or housekeeping concerns proactively. Be present and oversee the move-in/move-out and check-in/check-out processes at the beginning and end of each semester. Report maintenance needs to the Operations Director. Be available to respond to emergencies, lock-outs, and student needs outside regular hours.

Secondary Responsibilities

Attend and participate in all regularly scheduled staff meetings and training opportunities. Assist in executing various College and Church events and all required blackout dates. Regular attendance at Chapel. All other duties as assigned. Performance Measures

Support and implementation of Bayside College Culture. Effective discipleship and supervision of RAs. Regular communication with student leaders, staff, and direct reports. Intentional fostering of community events in Res Life. Compliance with college policies and procedures.
