Position Summary:

Clean Shores is a program of Seaside Sustainability, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Gloucester, Massachusetts. Clean Shores is dedicated to fighting ocean pollution. We use innovative devices to help remove waste from our beaches and oceans without harming the environment. Our current initiative is to acquire our first BeBot—an eco-friendly, beach-cleaning robot that will help maintain clean, healthy shorelines starting in the Gloucester, Massachusetts area. Eventually, our goal is to have three BeBots to clean the whole New England coastline (plus New York and New Jersey). www.clean-shores.org

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Volunteer Marketing Intern or Volunteer with strong writing, editing, and research skills to support our marketing and communications efforts. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys creating engaging content and has a sharp eye for accuracy and detail. You would be involved in one of the three subteams:

Marketing Media

Writing and editing content such as blog posts, press releases, newsletter, articles, and email communications

Reviewing content for videos and drafting online marketing messages and website content.

Conducting online research to support blog topics, marketing campaigns, and communications materials.

Proofreading and reviewing blogs and other marketing materials for grammar, clarity, and consistency.

Supporting marketing and communications projects as needed.

Social Media Content Creators

Develop engaging written and visual content for social media platforms, newsletters, and campaigns.

Work with design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Suite) to create high-quality graphics and visuals.

Assist in developing captions, hashtags, and strategies to increase reach and engagement.

Collaborate with the team to ensure consistent brand messaging across all platforms.

Social Media Content Executors (Posting & Engagement)

Schedule and post approved content across social media platforms.

Monitor accounts and campaigns daily, respond to comments/messages, and engage with the online community.

Track social media analytics and report on performance metrics.

Stay updated on platform trends and provide recommendations to improve engagement.

Qualifications:

Strong writing and communication skills.

Creativity and ability to produce visually appealing content using tools such as Canva or Adobe Suite.

Familiarity with social media platforms (Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, TikTok).

Creativity and ability to produce visually appealing content (for creators).

Detail-oriented and organized for scheduling and managing posts (for executors).

Interest in sustainability and environmental awareness.

Marketing Media Qualifications:

Strong writing skills with the ability to adapt tone for different audiences.

Excellent proofreading skills and solid knowledge of grammar and style.

Ability to conduct effective online research and summarize findings clearly.

Dependable, organized, and able to meet deadlines.

Interest in marketing, communications, journalism, or a related field.

Strong attention to detail and openness to feedback.

Interest in sustainability and environmental awareness.

Bonus skill: Experience with Google ads.

Duration and Compensation:

Duration: 5 months (flexible start and end dates).

Compensation: This is an unpaid internship. However, it provides a unique opportunity to gain practical experience.

Learning Outcomes:

Develop expertise in social media management and strategy.

Gain skills in graphic design and digital branding.

Learn how to analyze engagement data and optimize content performance.

Build teamwork and project coordination experience within a mission-driven nonprofit.

This is a remote internship position, and all interns work from their individual home offices across the globe.

Interns must have access to a computer, tablet, or mobile device with an internet connection to perform duties, attend meetings, and communicate effectively.

Interns are expected to commit at least fifteen hours per week and meet weekly deadlines set by their supervisors.
