
Communications Manager

Catholic Theological Union (CTU) is seeking a Communications Manager. The Communications Manager supports the Marketing and Communications Department by executing and coordinating day-to-day communication projects across digital platforms. This role is highly collaborative and flexible, assisting with social media management, email newsletters, basic graphic design, and communications support for faculty events and initiatives. The ideal candidate is organized, creative, and comfortable shifting between projects as needs arise.
This position reports directly to the Director of Marketing and Communications and works closely with campus partners. Responsibilities may shift based on department priorities and ongoing projects
Candidates are required to submit 3-5 portfolio pieces highlighting a blend of strong copywriting and visual design abilities. Please note that applications without these samples will not be considered.
Key Responsibilities
Digital & Social Media
Assist with planning, drafting, scheduling, and publishing content for social media platforms
Monitor engagement and help maintain a consistent brand voice across channels
Support promotional efforts for campus initiatives, events, and announcements
Email & Newsletter Communications
Create, format, and schedule email campaigns and newsletters using Mailchimp
Maintain email lists and support basic reporting on open rates and engagement
Collaborate on content development and proofreading
Design & Visual Content
Create clean, on-brand visuals, including graphics and short videos, for faculty events, announcements, and digital promotions.
Adapt and refine existing templates and materials to ensure consistency and impact.
General Communications Support
Provide project-based communications support as needs arise
Assist with event promotion, internal communications, and special initiatives
Coordinate with faculty and staff to gather information and ensure timely delivery of materials
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Advertising, or related field
3+ years professional experience working in communications, marketing, media management
Experience in higher education or nonprofit communications or Catholic spaces preferred
Experience with social media platforms and content creation
Familiarity with Mailchimp or similar email marketing tools; Canva; Adobe (photoshop, acrobat, etc.).
Strong written communication and attention to detail
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
Comfortable working independently while collaborating with a team
Basic understanding of branding and marketing principles and interest in storytelling and audience engagement
