Temporary Part-Time Recreation Specialist

New employees are hired at, or near the entry point shown, depending on qualifications and relevant experience. This is a temporary part time position. FLSA Status: Non-Exempt. Safety Sensitive: Yes. Level II Screening: Yes. Under the general direction of the designated supervisor, the incumbent is responsible for providing clerical support for programming and activities, greeting patrons, answering multi-line phone, assisting in administration, scheduling, and operation. Responsibilities may include but are not limited to providing direction to staff, assisting with recreational program implementation and reporting, planning special events, providing instruction to participants, cash handling and daily reporting, excellent communication skills, miscellaneous daily paperwork, general clean up and custodial duties. Directs non-supervisory employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the City's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include planning, assigning, and directing work, addressing complaints and resolving problems. Responsibilities and reporting during an emergency situation: Essential employees may be required to work during a declared emergency. Depending on the nature of the emergency, this may require working around the clock for several days on short notice. Non-essential employees will not be required to work during a declared emergency. The employee's Department Head will determine when the employee will be required to work. This work typically requires the following physical activities to be performed. Work performed is primarily: Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force to move objects. Work environment: Frequently have exposure to adverse environmental conditions such as extreme temperatures, wetness, humidity, toxic or caustic chemicals, noise, dust, wind, and sun. Contact with internal and external customers, vendors, outside agencies and the general public. May be required to work hours other than the regular schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.
