Benefits Specialist
EXP is currently searching for a Benefits Specialist based in our Chicago or Houston office. The benefits specialist will play a crucial role in managing and administering our comprehensive benefits and retirement programs including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short- and long-term disability, 401(k), and other ancillary plans. What a day at EXP has in store for you: Serves as the benefits subject matter expert and primary point of contact for employees regarding benefits inquiries and issues. Analyzes benefits data and trends to make informed recommendations for improvements. Conducts regular audits of benefits programs to ensure accuracy and compliance with legal requirements. Responds to benefits inquiries from managers and employees on plan provisions, benefits enrollments, status changes and other general inquiries. Effectively interprets FMLA, ADA, and state leave implications as they relate to leaves of absences/disabilities. Ensures compliance with and administer COBRA and ACA Maintains the benefit administration system, conducts system audits, ensures proper delivery of benefit information to benefit providers. Maintains the benefit administration system's file feed process with benefit vendors, working with benefit vendors and benefit system contacts to resolve any issues. Processes and administers all leave-of-absence requests and disability paperwork: medical, personal, disability, FMLA, and Workers' Compensation. Responds to 401(k) inquiries from managers and employees relating to enrollments, plan changes and contribution amount. Coordinates the open enrollment process, including configuration of the benefit administration system and testing, communications, helping employees with any open enrollment questions, and post open enrollment cleanup/analytics. Assists with new-hire orientations. Administers various programs such as tuition/training reimbursement and wellness allowance. Provides necessary reports as requested. What your experience looks like: Extensive knowledge of employee benefits and applicable laws. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Excellent organizational and time management skills. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software. Education and Experience: Required: Associate's degree in HR or related field, but experience and/or other training/certification may be substituted for the education. Two to five years' experience in HR and/or benefits administration. Preferred: Bachelor's degree in human resources or related field of study. HRIS Knowledge including Oracle and bswift. SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP), SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) certification, Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification, or Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS) credential. Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. The salary range for this role is $75,000 to $85,000. Actual compensation will be determined based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to the candidate's skill set, experience, certifications, and geographic location. Compensation may vary by location due to differences in the cost of labor.
