Job Title Customer Service Representative/Aide – Therapy Services (includes Aide 5400 responsibilities)
Schedule & Employment Type
Full time (0.9 FTE, 36 hours per week)
Day Shift
Responsibilities
Put patients at ease and make them comfortable.
Give clear instructions and work with minimal direct supervision.
Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Plan day‑to‑day activities and manage them with minimal supervision.
Provide clinical care to the patient population described in the department’s services portion of the policy manual.
Perform basic clerical duties including filing, phone, and record keeping.
Promote customer satisfaction.
Communicate with patients by phone and in person to gather required information for accurate scheduling.
Ensure completion of correct paperwork for patient care.
Communicate with insurance companies to ensure authorizations and coverage are in place.
Communicate with healthcare providers to gather needed information (prescriptions, office notes, multidisciplinary plans).
Serve as first contact for patients and staff regarding therapy services and programming.
Use computer for scheduling programs, registrations, and use of Word, Excel, and EMR.
Proficient with phone, fax, and scanning.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Education & Certifications
High school diploma required.
Office and computer experience required.
Experience in a health care setting preferred.
Child and Dependent Adult Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training required within 6 months of hire and every 5 years thereafter.
Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) required within 30 days of hire and every 2 years thereafter.
Excellent computer skills and ability to learn multiple computer programs (Mercy admitting and billing programs, electronic medical records, insurance websites, Microsoft Office).
Excellent communication skills in person and on the phone; able to handle customers experiencing pain, high stress, or dissatisfaction calmly.
Ability to understand relevant healthcare topics related to patients’ delivery of care and paperwork and to provide basic education to patients.
Work with frequent interruptions and competing tasks; strong ability to process information, prioritize, and provide direction to staff, including staff in aide roles.
