Specialist, Principal Gifts and Strategic Fundraising Initiatives
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree (foreign equivalent or higher).
Three (3) years of full-time work experience.
Experience managing calendars, coordinating travel arrangements, and/or reconciling expenses.
Experience using Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, and/or Google Workspace.
Preferred Qualifications
One (1) additional year of full-time work experience.
Experience working in a university, nonprofit, government or municipal environment, large healthcare system and/or related field.
Brief Description of Duties The Specialist, Principal Gifts and Strategic Fundraising Initiatives at Stony Brook University Advancement supports Advancement's mission by providing high-level administrative, operational, and project coordination support to the AVP Principal Gifts and Strategic Fundraising Initiatives and with leadership on the Development teams. The incumbent will be responsible for managing complex calendars, coordinating travel logistics, and supporting the execution of administrative processes and initiatives, ensuring effective use of leadership’s time and alignment with organizational priorities. Additionally, they will work with both internal units and external partners to execute projects that align with Advancement’s strategic goals. Experience managing light projects is also necessary for success in this role.
Project Administration:
Develop and manage project plans, schedules, and budgets, ensuring milestones and deadlines are achievable and financial resources are allocated appropriately.
Organize and lead project meetings, facilitate communication among team members and stakeholders, and regularly check in to ensure adherence to deadlines and assignments.
Track project progress, prepare status reports, and ensure compliance with timelines, budgets, and quality standards, making adjustments as needed to keep the project on track.
Administrative Support:
Deliver high-level executive support to the AVP of Principal Gifts and Strategic Fundraising Initiatives, including managing complex calendars, coordinating travel logistics, processing expenses, organizing meetings, and handling correspondence.
Keep the AVP advised of time-sensitive and priority issues, ensuring appropriate follow-up.
Draft, edit, and coordinate the distribution of communications and reports including emails, presentations and announcements on behalf of the AVP and leadership on the Development teams.
Other duties as assigned.
Special Notes The Research Foundation of SUNY is a private educational corporation. Employment is subject to the Research Foundation policies and procedures, sponsor guidelines and the availability of funding. This is a full-time appointment. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption.
