Job Summary This is a contract-based, position based in Irvine, CA. The SBA Underwriter is responsible for analyzing the financial strength, creditworthiness, and risk profile of existing and prospective business clients. They gather, analyze, and interpret financial information to structure credit transactions - such as lines of credit, term loans and commercial real estate loans - that align with the bank's risk appetite and lending policies. The underwriter prepares comprehensive credit memorandums, makes recommendations to loan committees, and monitors portfolio performance to manage risk.
Qualifications
Strong skills in financial analysis, risk assessment, and credit decision-making
Proficiency in reviewing financial statements, tax returns, and credit reports
Familiarity with SBA SOP guidelines, policies, and loan programs
Proven ability to collaborate with loan officers and other team members effectively
Attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving abilities
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Experience with SBA lending technology platforms is preferred
Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field is highly desirable
