South Bend Orthopedics is looking for a full-time Workers Compensation Specialist. The position would be responsible for the proper and timely processing of workers compensation claims including pre-certification.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Contacts employers and employer’s workers compensation carriers to pre-authorize workers compensation patients prior to appointment.

Triage between patients, physicians, workers comp adjusters, case managers, and employers.

Schedules patient appointments and confirms new patient appointments.

Assists patients with the completion of insurance forms and pre-certification.

Knowledge of work comp and physician protocols.

Maintains strict confidentiality required related to medical records and other data.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Ability to communicate clearly, and possess excellent phone skills in order to establish/maintain cooperative relationships with patients, Physicians and staff.

Efficient gathering and effective comprehension of insurance and /or account information.

Navigate and comprehension of computer software systems in office setting, prefer 50wpm typing skill.

Must maintain knowledge of clinic, insurance contract policies and procedures and medical terminology as related to the job.

STANDARD QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience:

Minimum of two years experience in claims processing in a health care setting including workman’s compensation.
