Pay $85,000.00 - $95,000.00
Position Summary The Assistant Superintendent works with all aspects of the day-to-day operations of the golf course. The Assistant Superintendent is expected to observe golf course conditions and make suggestions or observations known to the Golf Course Superintendent. This position works in all facets of golf course management with an emphasis on irrigation, fertilizer/pesticide, and employee management under the supervision of the Golf Course Superintendent. The ideal candidate possesses a practical knowledge base in the following areas: maintenance of a golf course landscape - greens, tees, and fairways; the characteristics and proper use of various fertilizers, herbicides and pest control methods; drainage control methods; and irrigation systems including pumps and automatic controls.
Key Responsibilities – Skills, Aptitude, and Knowledge
Work closely with the Golf Course Superintendent to supervise, schedule and train a staff of full-time, part-time, and seasonal employees
Supervise maintenance work and staff to achieve the most efficient utilization of workers and equipment while being accountable for the finished results of work
Coordinate with the Superintendent in the planning, scheduling, and implementation of maintenance practices and projects
Apply fertilizers and plant protectants, including calibrating sprayers and spreaders; record all applications and ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations
Perform irrigation scheduling and make basic irrigation repairs
Perform basic mowing tasks and cultural practices when needed
Safely operate golf course equipment including but not limited to carts, mowers, rollers, rakes, loaders, automobiles, etc.
Maintain awareness of changing course conditions, recognize problems, and communicate maintenance needs to the Superintendent

Requirements Valid Driver's License
Two-year certificate, associate degree or bachelor's degree in Turf Grass Management or related field preferred
Ability to obtain pesticide license within six (6) months of employment
1–3 years of golf course maintenance experience
Ability to work scheduled holidays and weekends
