Senior Marketing Manager, Government
Themis Solutions Inc., Virginia, MN, United States
Clio is the global leader in legal AI technology, empowering legal professionals and law firms of every size to work smarter, faster, and more securely.
We are currently seeking a
Senior Marketing Manager, Government
to join our growing
Marketing team . This is a unique role designed to build and lead Clio's go‑to‑market strategy for fast‑growing and high‑value segments in the legal industry: in‑house legal teams within federal, state/provincial, municipal government organizations, public defenders, and legal aid organizations.
We're looking for a candidate based in the
Greater Washington, D.C. area , including candidates located in
nearby regions of Maryland or Virginia
who can commute regularly into Washington, D.C.
What your team does: The Marketing team is a high‑profile, high‑impact function and the primary driver of Clio's revenue growth. We lead strategic campaigns and initiatives that attract, engage, and convert target segments across the legal industry.
Although Clio is the world's leading legal software used by over 400,000 legal professionals, the government segment represents a new, significant, and largely untapped opportunity. Your work in this segment will have an immediate and meaningful impact — and we have best‑in‑class technology, budgets, and an outstanding team to support it.
Our team is geographically distributed across Canada and the US, which means we excel with async, video, and Slack communication to collaborate effectively. We value initiative, excellence, experimentation, and we care about results.
Who you are: You are an experienced B2B marketer who understands the nuances of selling into government — the longer sales cycles, the procurement processes, the multi‑stakeholder environment, and the trust and compliance considerations that matter to public sector buyers. You know how to build relationships and credibility with this audience, and you're skilled at crafting messaging that speaks to both the practical and institutional needs of government legal teams.
You thrive in a complex environment, are energized by greenfield opportunity, and know how to balance long‑term relationship‑building with near‑term pipeline generation. You work well cross‑functionally, communicate with clarity, and are comfortable navigating ambiguity with confidence.
What you’ll work on:
Develop Clio's growth strategy for government legal teams — including federal, provincial/state, municipal legal departments, public defenders, and legal aid organizations — identifying marketing opportunities that can unlock significant expansion in this segment;
Design and execute multi‑channel marketing programs tailored to the government buyer journey, accounting for longer decision cycles, procurement requirements, and institutional buying processes;
Build awareness and credibility with government legal audiences through targeted content, events, associations, and partnerships relevant to the public sector legal community;
Align Government Channel Partners and Resellers on an integrated go‑to‑marketing strategy;
Analyze Clio's marketing and sales funnel for the government segment, identify friction points, and implement strategies to improve conversion at every stage;
Partner closely with Sales, Revenue Operations, and the extended Marketing to align on messaging, gather feedback, and ensure programs are driving results;
Develop a deep understanding of government legal teams — their mandates, pain points, technology adoption patterns, and procurement constraints — and share these insights across the team;
Maintain scalable, end‑to‑end programs designed with specific goals aligned to the government segment's growth trajectory.
What you may have:
7-10+ years of experience in a marketing or demand generation role, with meaningful exposure to public sector and government audiences;
Demonstrated understanding of government procurement processes and the buying dynamics of public sector organizations;
Experience working directly and activating Government resellers and channel partners on joint GTM strategies;
Excellent analytical skills and experience measuring and optimizing data‑driven marketing programs;
Ability to plan, organize, and execute multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines;
Strong communication, presentation, project management, and writing skills — including the ability to craft messaging that resonates with institutional and compliance‑focused buyers;
Comfort making decisions with imperfect information in an emerging, high‑growth environment;
Experience marketing across multiple online and offline channels with a focus on driving leads and pipeline.
Compensation & Benefits: Compensation is one of the main components of Clio’s Total Rewards Program. We have developed a series of programs and processes to ensure we are creating fair and competitive pay practices that form the foundation of our human and high‑performing culture.
Some highlights of our Total Rewards program include:
Competitive, equitable salary with top‑tier health benefits, dental, and vision insurance
Hybrid work environment, with expectation for local Clions to be in office minimum twice per week
$2,000 annual counseling benefit
RRSP matching and RESP contribution
Clioversary recognition program with special acknowledgement at 3, 5, 7, and 10 years
The expected salary range for this role is $103,400 to $140,000 USD. There are separate salary bands for other regions based on local currency. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for variable pay based on company performance, with payout amounts calculated and paid on a quarterly basis.
Location: Greater Washington, D.C. area (including nearby regions of Maryland or Virginia). Candidates must be able to commute regularly into Washington, D.C.
Diversity, Inclusion, Belonging and Equity (DIBE) & Accessibility: We are committed to equal employment and we encourage candidates from all backgrounds to apply. Clio provides accessibility accommodations during the recruitment process. Please let us know and we will work with you to meet your needs.
