HayCo Direct is a family farm located in Northeast Nebraska and has been in operation since 1888. The location, which is in a semi‑arid climate with fertile soil, makes the farm ideal for top quality alfalfa and grass hay production. HayCo Direct produces all types of alfalfa and grass hay for all types of applications including dairy, horse, beef, feedlot, sheep, and rabbit.
Job Description
The Farm Manager will be responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of farm operations, including crop production, livestock management, equipment maintenance, and staff coordination. The ideal candidate will have experience in agriculture and be able to manage the farm efficiently while ensuring high‑quality output, sustainability, and profitability. Key Responsibilities
Crop and Livestock Management
Plan and oversee the planting, cultivation, and harvesting of crops. Manage the health and welfare of livestock (if applicable), including feeding, breeding, and health care. Ensure the use of sustainable farming practices to optimize production and minimize environmental impact. Monitor crop growth, soil conditions, and livestock conditions to make timely adjustments.
Staff Management
Supervise farm staff, including training, scheduling, and ensuring safe work practices. Conduct performance reviews and provide leadership and guidance to team members.
Farm Operations
Oversee farm machinery and equipment, ensuring proper maintenance and operation. Maintain accurate records of farm activities, crop yields, and livestock inventories. Implement pest control and disease management programs.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, or a related field (preferred). Minimum of [X] years of experience in farm management or related agricultural roles. Strong knowledge of farming equipment, crop production, and livestock management. Ability to manage budgets, staff, and resources effectively. Excellent organizational, leadership, and communication skills. Familiarity with agricultural regulations and safety standards. Valid driver’s license and ability to operate farm machinery. Benefits
