Role Summary
The Senior CRE Syndications Origination Officer is responsible for originating, structuring, and leading syndicated CRE loan transactions for our clients across construction, bridge, and term loans. The role drives new production, fee income, and relationship growth by serving as lead arranger or co-arranger, coordinating underwriting, documentation, distribution, and closing in partnership with internal associates and external lending partners.
This position serves market-facing and internal product partner roles, cultivating client relationships and ensuring successful syndication outcomes aligned with the bank’s risk appetite, returns, and regulatory expectations.
Key Responsibilities
Origination and Client Coverage
Support origination activities in collaboration with CRE Relationship Managers and product partners.
Assess sponsor strength, collateral quality, market dynamics, and business plans; recommend optimal facility type (construction, bridge, term), tranche strategy, pricing, covenants, and hold targets aligned with risk appetite.
Maintain strong alignment with credit partners
Deal Leadership and Structuring
Lead-arrange or co-arrange transactions: structure facilities, set pricing, covenants, and collateral packages based on credit profile and market appetite.
Oversee model development and deal analytics
Coordinate internal deal teams across relationship banking, credit, syndications, loan operations, and legal.
Ensure compliance with bank policies and regulatory guidance and adherence to risk appetite and return thresholds.
Distribution and Execution
Partner with the CRE relationship team to craft the syndication strategy, lender list, and investor messaging.
Lead lender meetings; oversee information memorandum and diligence Q&A; manage allocations and closing documentation.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with key buy‑side and sell‑side syndications partners
Portfolio Stewardship and Cross‑Sell
Maintain post‑close engagement on amendments, waivers, market flex, and ongoing agency matters.
Market Presence and Team Leadership
Maintain active lender and sponsor relationships; represent the bank at industry events and conferences.
Mentor junior associates and help build origination discipline, credit acumen, and execution standards.
Contribute to pricing frameworks, market updates, and best practices for syndicated finance.
Participate in other projects and business development functions as may be assigned by the Group Head.
Qualifications
10+ years of commercial/corporate or capital markets experience including 5+ years of Commercial Real Estate loan syndications experience that included client and bank group presentations. Equivalent education can be substituted for some of the years of experience.
Deep knowledge of CRE loan market practices, credit documentation, covenant frameworks, intercreditor and participation structures, guarantees, and construction disbursement mechanics.
Strong financial modeling and structuring skills; proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint; familiarity with CRM and deal management tools.
Established relationships with middle market lenders; proven ability to run competitive processes and close complex deals.
Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, or related field required; MBA, CFA, or similar credential preferred.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and executive presence; ability to influence across internal stakeholders and external counterparties.
