Assists the Director of Advising in implementing advising operations for student success professionals.
Provides direct supervision to the Retention and Completion team.
Provides guidance to advising staff on all campuses.
Coordinates and conducts training for academic advising staff on all campuses in partnership with Campus Directors and the Director of Advising.
Serves as the Director of Advising when the Director is away.**SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:**The specific duties and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:* Supervise the Retention and Completion team while assessing student needs, prior academic experiences, and career goals to guide students in the design and implementation of a successful academic and career plan to ensure students persist to graduation (30%)* Plan, direct, and monitor daily departmental activities and make necessary adjustments to staff work assignments and advising services (25%)* Resolve escalated issues and leverage academic advising expertise to solve complex problems and improve processes, including Academic Reinstatement, Course Substitutions, and PLA/competency credits (15%)* Collaborate with the Director of Advising and Campus Directors to compile, interpret, and review reports on student engagement, retention, transfer rates, and academic performance outcomes. (15%)* Establish and maintain relationships with campus partners, including deans, department chairs, and all student success departments, serving on committees or workgroups related to student success, retention, and completion (10%)* Complete other duties and responsibilities as assigned (5%)**QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:**The qualifications and skill requirements for this position include:* Bachelor’s degree and relevant work experience; Master’s degree preferred.* Minimum of three (3) years of successful work experience in leading, developing, and implementing strategies for student success;* Experience in academic advising of students in a college or university setting;* Strong commitment to student success;* Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal skills;* Highly organized and able to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines;* Ability to lead, work, and collaborate in a team environment;* Able to analyze data, identify trends, and implement student retention and completion strategies.**PHYSICAL DEMANDS:**This position requires an ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, lift, reach up, stoop, and carry items occasionally in excess of twenty-five (25) pounds.
It also requires manual dexterity to operate standard office machines, such as, copier, fax, calculator, telephone, and other equipment as necessary.
