
Director, Facilities & Maintenance

Strategic, hands‑on Director of Maintenance & Facilities to lead technical maintenance, reliability, sustainability, and facilities services across our parcel, large‑parcel furniture, and final‑mile home delivery network. Accountable for the availability, reliability, safety, compliance, and lifecycle management of conveyance systems, material handling equipment (MHE), automation, and facility assets across multiple sites. This role owns CMMS adoption, preventative maintenance strategy, capital and repair planning, ESG‑related initiatives and infrastructure, and governance of process adherence and adoption through site audits while partnering with operations, engineering, safety, and external vendors to minimize downtime, reduce environmental impact, and maximize throughput.

Strategic Leadership & Planning
Develop and execute a multi‑site maintenance, facilities, and sustainability strategy aligned with business objectives, including 3–5 year asset roadmaps, lifecycle replacement plans, and capital investment prioritization.
Establish, govern, and continuously improve standardized maintenance, reliability, ESG, and DC processes; ensure consistent adoption through structured site audits, scorecards, and corrective action plans.
Define decision‑rights, escalation paths, and performance metrics for maintenance, facilities, and ESG initiatives across the network to ensure accountability and transparency.
Serve as the enterprise owner for maintenance and facilities governance, ensuring policies, standards, and procedures are documented, current, and auditable.
Reliability, CMMS, & Preventative Maintenance Strategies
Own enterprise CMMS strategy and execution, including system selection, configuration, data governance, and ongoing enhancements (e.g., PM optimization, asset hierarchies, work order compliance, KPI dashboards).
Design, implement, and enforce preventative, predictive, and condition‑based maintenance programs for conveyors, sorters, forklifts, automation, and critical facility systems.
Lead root‑cause failure analysis (RCFA) and reliability improvement initiatives, ensuring learnings are captured, standardized, and deployed across sites.
Own critical spare parts strategy, lifecycle forecasting, and vendor‑managed inventory for high‑risk and long‑lead assets.
Automation & Controls
Provide technical oversight and governance for PLC‑based controls and HMI systems (Allen‑Bradley, Siemens), coordinating with controls engineers, integrators, and IT/OT stakeholders.
Lead formal change‑management and change‑control processes for automation, controls, and facility system modifications to ensure safety, reliability, cybersecurity alignment, and compliance.
Review and approve vendor designs, programming changes, and commissioning plans to ensure alignment with enterprise standards.
ESG Infrastructure & Comply
Own facilities‑related ESG initiatives and supporting infrastructure, including energy efficiency programs, waste reduction and recycling systems, asset life‑extension strategies, and environmentally responsible maintenance practices.
Partner with Safety, Finance, and Engineering teams to support environmental data collection, verification, audits, and reporting tied to corporate sustainability commitments.
Ensure compliance with OSHA, environmental regulations, fire/life safety codes, building codes, and internal governance standards across all sites.
Establish ESG and compliance expectations for vendors and contractors, including safety performance, regulatory adherence, and sustainability requirements.
Operational Continuity, Risk, & Vendor Management
Develop and maintain disaster recovery, business continuity, and emergency response plans for critical facility and automation systems.
Lead escalation and cross‑functional incident response for major outages, compliance events, or safety incidents; ensure post‑incident reviews drive systemic improvements.
Own strategic vendor relationships and service contracts for MHE, automation, HVAC, fire/life safety, and specialty services, including performance management and compliance monitoring.
Operational & Capital Budget Management
Own and be accountable for maintenance and facilities OPEX and CAPEX budgets across assigned sites, including capital repair planning, ESG‑driven investments, and lifecycle ROI analysis.
Track and report operational, financial, compliance, and ESG (e.g. landfill diversion) performance metrics to executive leadership, highlighting risks, trends, and improvement opportunities.
What you’ll bring to the table
Deep technical knowledge of conveyors, sortation systems, palletizers, forklifts, automation, and critical facility infrastructure within parcel, large‑parcel, and final‑mile distribution environments.
Proven ability to design, implement, and govern enterprise‑wide maintenance, reliability, and facilities processes, ensuring consistent site adoption through audits, scorecards, and corrective action management.
Demonstrated experience owning and operating a CMMS at scale, including asset hierarchy design, PM optimization, data governance, compliance documentation, and performance reporting.
Strong working knowledge of PLC and HMI systems (Allen‑Bradley, Siemens), including troubleshooting, change review, and coordination with controls engineers and system integrators.
Experience leading ESG and sustainability initiatives related to facilities and maintenance, including energy efficiency, waste reduction, asset life extension, and infrastructure improvements.
Solid understanding of regulatory, safety, and environmental compliance requirements (OSHA, fire/life safety, environmental regulations) and the operational controls required to maintain compliance.
Strong financial and analytical acumen with experience managing OPEX and CAPEX budgets, lifecycle ROI analysis, and prioritization of capital and ESG investments.
Ability to establish governance frameworks, define decision rights, and enforce standards across multi‑site, 24/7 operating environments.
Demonstrated leadership in developing and managing high‑performing, multi‑site teams; skilled in coaching, succession planning, and performance management.
Strong vendor and contractor management capabilities, including contract negotiation, performance management, compliance enforcement, and ESG expectations.
