Field Operations Director – Field Services Location:

Role Overview The Field Operations Director is responsible for leading and optimizing all field service operations across Virginia Transformer’s service network. This role provides strategic and operational leadership for field execution, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery of installation, maintenance, commissioning, and emergency response services for power transformer systems. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with deep experience in field service operations, capable of driving performance, developing teams, and aligning field execution with organizational growth objectives.
Key Responsibilities Lead and manage all field service operations, including installation, commissioning, maintenance, and repair of transformer equipment Develop and execute operational strategies to improve service delivery, efficiency, and customer satisfaction Oversee scheduling, resource allocation, and workforce planning across multiple regions and projects Establish and monitor KPIs related to safety, quality, productivity, and service performance Ensure compliance with all safety standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies Partner with engineering, sales, and manufacturing teams to ensure seamless project execution Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize processes, reduce downtime, and enhance field productivity Manage and develop field service leadership, including regional managers and supervisors Support customer relationships by serving as an escalation point for complex service issues Oversee budgeting, cost control, and financial performance of field operations
Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations, or a related field (or equivalent experience) 10+ years of experience in field service, operations, or technical service leadership Strong background in power transformers, high-voltage equipment, or heavy industrial environments Proven leadership experience managing large, distributed field teams Demonstrated ability to drive operational excellence and process improvement Strong understanding of safety regulations and field service best practices
Preferred Skills Experience in transformer manufacturing or utility/power industry Knowledge of commissioning, testing, and maintenance of high-voltage equipment Strong financial acumen, including budgeting and P&L responsibility Excellent communication and cross-functional leadership skills Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
