Utility Sales Engineers
to support the
IOU and Public Power .
You do NOT need an engineering degree — we want driven sales professionals with strong customer skills, road experience, and the personality to win business.
The ideal candidate is a hunter who enjoys building relationships, traveling, meeting customers face-to-face, and driving growth in a competitive market.
Key Responsibilities
Drive growth in assigned region by selling distribution and power transformers to
Investor-Owned Utilities, Public Power, Co-ops, and EPCs .
Generate new inquiries, follow up on quotes, secure orders, and achieve assigned booking and margin goals.
Travel extensively (up to
75% ) to visit utilities, engineering firms, channel partners, and key accounts.
Identify and develop new accounts and emerging market opportunities.
Strengthen existing relationships through regular onsite visits, follow-up, and responsiveness.
Pipeline & Territory Management
Build and maintain a strong pipeline of inquiries and opportunities across assigned territory.
Track leads, quotes, and close rates; adjust strategy to improve hit rate and increase bookings.
Work with internal Application Engineers to ensure accurate and timely quotations.
Support channel partners, manufacturers’ reps, EPCs, and distributors to help them achieve their sales targets.
Conduct customer visits, lunch-and-learns, product presentations, and trainings.
Understand customer needs, project requirements, and competitive positioning.
Negotiate pricing and commercial terms on major opportunities with support from leadership.
Partner with Project Management to ensure customers stay informed during order execution.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of competitive landscape, utility programs, and regional opportunities.
Provide accurate CRM inputs, sales forecasts, and market updates.
Work with Marketing to refine sales collateral and value proposition messaging.
Qualifications Required
No technical degree required
— we will teach the products.
3+ years of sales experience , preferably in industrial, utility, energy, construction, or B2B field sales.
Strong relationship-building skills, drive, personality, and competitive spirit.
Comfortable with
heavy travel (75%)
across assigned region.
Proficiency in
Excel
and CRM tools (Salesforce, HubSpot, or similar).
Strong communication and presentation skills.
Ability to make cold calls and develop new accounts.
Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
Preferred
Experience selling into utilities, EPCs, or industrial accounts.
Experience with electrical equipment, capital equipment, or field service solutions (not required but helpful).
Prior success in a high-bonus, performance-based compensation structure.
Territory
East Coast or West Coast
Sales to
Investor-Owned Utilities, Public Power, Municipalities, Co-ops, and EPC firms .
Remote role with extensive field travel.
