
Collections Specialist

Job Description:
Responsibilities:
Manage a portfolio of assigned delinquent accounts.
Initiate contact with debtors via phone, email, and written correspondence to discuss balances, options, and negotiate payment arrangements.
Document all collection activities, communications, and arrangements in accordance with client standards and federal regulations.
Provide customer service by responding to inquiries, delivering accurate information, and addressing concerns.
Use skip tracing techniques and tools to locate hard-to-reach debtors.
Perform related duties as required by the role.
Required Skills & Qualifications: Strong negotiation and persuasion abilities with respectful, professional communication. Effective verbal and written communication, active listening, and empathy. Ability to handle difficult conversations and resolve conflicts with composure. Detail orientation with sound organization and time management. Reliability and ability to work flexible day, evening, and weekend hours as required. Basic computing skills. Ability to obtain required collection license upon placement.
Preferred Skills: High school diploma or equivalent; some college coursework in business or related fields preferred. 0–1 years of experience in collections or customer service, preferably in financial or credit environments. Proficiency with collections software, CRM systems, and Microsoft Office Suite. Familiarity with debt collection laws, regulations, and compliance requirements.
