Custom Cabinet Builder - Woodworker

Job Requirements Cut, shape, and assemble wooden articles or set up and operate a variety of woodworking machines, such as power saws, jointers, to surface, cut, or shape lumber or to fabricate parts for wood products.

Assemble cabinets and other custom millwork items for the commercial and marine industry. Items would include custom front desks, cabinets, display units, general woodworking components for commercial woodwork.

Equipment used: chop saw, table saw, radial arm saw, nail guns, routers, jointer, shaper, edge bander and sanders.

Individual would have experience using woodworking equipment and building wood components in a cabinet shop or other related woodworking fields.

Attach parts or subassemblies together to form completed units, using glue, dowels, nails, screws, or clamps.

Install hardware, such as hinges, handles, catches, or drawer pulls, using hand tools.

Match materials for color, grain, or texture, giving attention to knots or other features of the wood.

Produce or assemble components of articles, such as store fixtures, office equipment, cabinets, or high-grade furniture.

Reinforce joints with nails or other fasteners to prepare articles for finishing.

Set up or operate machines, including power saws, jointers, mortisers, tenoners, molders, or shapers, to cut, mold, or shape woodstock or wood substitutes.

Verify dimensions or check the quality or fit of pieces to ensure adherence to specifications.

Trim, sand, or scrape surfaces or joints to prepare articles for finishing.

Other Experience and Qualifications Position requires the fabrication of wood components into a finished product.

Individual must have excellent hand skills and ability to read drawings.

Individual would have experience using woodworking equipment and building wood components in a cabinet shop or other related woodworking fields.

Individual must be able to perform basic mathematical calculations using a ruler and a calculator. Ability to read and follow shop drawings. Ability to inspect the finished product for dimensions and quality checks.

Work requires the ability to lift and handle pieces weighing up to 50-80 pounds occasionally.
