About the Role We are seeking a strategic and data‑driven

Senior Director of Membership

to lead engagement and retention for our executive membership program. This senior role will oversee a growing team of Council Managers and utilize the latest technology to build and maintain a robust membership database powered by AI in order to provide white glove service to our members.

You Will

Strategic Leadership & Management:

Develop and execute a comprehensive, data‑driven strategy for membership retention and growth aligned with the Institute's financial and business goals.

Lead and mentor a team of

Council Managers

to ensure the delivery of a world‑class member experience and a high level of engagement within each executive council.

Collaborate with sales, marketing, product, and content teams to align membership strategy with broader organizational initiatives.

Technology:

Understand how AI can be best used to capture and deploy critical information and insights about our members to provide them with white glove service.

Lead transformation of our current member database systems and software into a flexible "knowledge system" that takes advantage of powerful AI tools.

Keep our member knowledge base current, accurate and up to the highest privacy standards.

Partner with Dow Jones technology leaders to achieve goals.

Analysis, Research & Tools:

Monitor and analyze membership data to forecast trends, measure performance, and inform strategic decisions.

Leverage data to design new methods and tools to strategically inform and engage members—including polling and ranking tools.

Work with content, sales and marketing teams to create and deploy new member benefits.

Member Experience & Community Building:

Ensure a consistently high‑quality experience for all members, from onboarding to daily engagement and renewals.

Work with Council Managers to curate and deliver relevant, high‑impact touchpoints that meet the evolving needs of executive members.

Act as a key representative of the Leadership Institute, building relationships with high‑level members and stakeholders.

You Have

Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.

15+ years of experience

working in a membership‑driven environment with a significant portion of that time spent in a leadership role. Experience with media or content brands is a plus.

Expertise in using new AI tools as well as older but evolving CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce) and interpreting data to drive business decisions.

Extensive experience managing and developing high‑performing teams.

Exceptional strategic planning, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage with C‑suite executives and senior leaders.

Base Pay Range $225,000 - $260,000

We’re committed to offering competitive and flexible compensation to attract top talent. This pay range reflects our good faith estimate for the role and may vary based on a candidate’s experience, skills, location, and other relevant factors.

For bonus‑eligible roles, targets are determined based on multiple considerations, including market benchmarks and individual contributions.
