Renewals Manager

Higgins Waikato has secured a new long-term contract – NZTA’s Integrated Delivery Contract (IDC) for the region, and we are looking for a Renewals Manager to join the team and lead the planning and delivery of a complex renewals programme across the full year cycle.

Based from our Morrinsville Depot, you will be responsible for turning approved scope into a safe, well‑sequenced and commercially sound delivery programme, working closely with contract leadership, delivery teams, and external partners.

This role balances hands on programme ownership with strong commercial awareness. You will guide treatment selection, manage change, track risk, and ensure renewals work is delivered to the required standards while meeting contract commitments.

Key responsibilities include:

Plan, manage and deliver the annual renewals programme from approval through to completion

Validate treatment selections using asset condition data and forward works information

Manage scope, variations, and change control to protect programme and commercial outcomes

Lead renewals procurement and oversee subcontractor performance and close out

Monitor programme progress, risks, and forecasts and provide clear reporting to contract leadership

Work closely with internal teams, clients, and site stakeholders to resolve issues early

What You’ll Bring to the Role To succeed in this role, you will be comfortable owning a renewals programme end to end and working across planning, delivery, and commercial discussions. You will bring:

A tertiary qualification at NZQF Level 5 or higher in construction, engineering, or a related field

At least five years’ experience in renewals, maintenance, or project delivery roles

Experience leading small professional teams and coordinating contractors and consultants

Strong understanding of the construction project lifecycle and renewal delivery environments

Confidence working with asset data, digital delivery systems, and programme planning tools

Clear communication skills and a practical, collaborative approach to leadership
